Magical Express

I rode the magical express in March. They send a letter to your house. Just show the letter to the attendant where you pick up the buses at the airport. The letter had a bar code on it that was scanned.

I thought the yellow luggage tags were not being sent any more because you are responsible for picking up your own luggage at the airport and taking it to the bus. Has something changed in the last week?
Yellow luggage tags were for the baggage handling service that was previously offered. That service ended quite some time ago. American Tourister luggage tags are still available. I don’t think they are mailing them. You can ask for them at your Disney hotel registration desk. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/f...-and-check-in/magical-express-without-packet/

The DME yellow luggage tags with resort info on them were only stopped once covid happened.
So that really wasn't that long ago.

The PP and I asked about the yellow luggage tags because OP mentioned receiving their luggage tags in a thread that is regarding DME so we were looking for clarification.

We got luggage tags today's. Bunch of Donald ones.
My folks are flying down. So if I get this straight, they need to pick up their luggage?

I understand the app is not just for Apple but the poster that I quoted made it seem as though you could access your park tickets for park entry via the app and I thought THAT feature was only available for Apple at the present time.
It's been rolled out for Android as well. I've been able to access our park tickets via "Mobile Magic" on my Samsung Galaxy for a few weeks now.

I think maybe the OP's mention of luggage tags that were sent to her was referring to the complimentary luggage name tags with Disney characters that you get as part of onsite stays and packages, not the DME yellow luggage transfer sticker tags.

Thanks for the info.
My sister and I were debating whether to get new magic bands or use this feature (although we both have androids so we were not sure if it worked with it yet but now we know). Ultimately though we decided even if we could use that feature it seemed no different than using a ticket since you have to pull your phone our just like you'd pull your ticket out where as we love just wearing the magic band and not having to have our phone in our hand even more than we already do. Just like using the app to unlock your resort room. Its awesome if you say left your magic band in the room but otherwise it seems like more of a hassle to use vs just hold up your wrist. Plus what sealed the deal was the black glitter magic band lol. It reminds me of the Pop Century floor.

I feel the same way. I downloaded it as sort of a "backup," but we still plan to bring and wear our old MagicBands. They're just so convenient to use, I wouldn't want to give them up.

Can someone help me understand Starting Jan 1, 2022 what are the options for getting from MCO to Pop Century for example?
Short of a rental car, options (with pre-tip estimates of current threshold prices) include:
- Mears shuttle (~$30-$40 per person, shared van, roundtrip)
- Rideshare for 4 people + luggage (Uber XL, Lyft XL) (~$50 one way)
- Private towncar (~$85 one way) or limo service (~$150-$200 one way)
- Taxi (~$60 one way)
- (not currently in service, but likely to be resumed within the next few months): Minnie Van (~$155 one way)
- Mears Connect (taking over for DME, shared motor coach, prices and schedules TBA)

Our family of four has had great experiences with towncar service when not using DME (e.g., when we start off a trip at Universal). Although it's a little more expensive than a rideshare, the personal attention, guarantee of a clean and roomy vehicle with sufficient space for our luggage, and convenience, are worth the added cost for us. Your driver will personally greet you in Baggage Claim, help you with bags, and escort you just outside to the private pickup area, making you feel irrationally fancy and important. If you need it, a brief grocery stop en route to the hotel is usually complimentary. If you're interested in towncar transportation, just make sure to Google around and check reviews and BBB listings before booking, to confirm that the company you're using has been in business a long time and has a good reputation. Also, as with any reservation, carefully read the fine print and take note of any additional charges (taxes, fees, charges for late or early pick-ups, etc.) that will be tacked on, whether your total includes a gratuity for the driver, and what the applicable cancellation policies might be.

So besides my disnsy experience.. what apps should I have before my trip?
There's nothing else you strictly need. Here are some suggestions for other apps you might want:

If there's any chance you'll be using any rideshares, download and set up the Lyft and Uber apps.
If you don't already have a good weather app and want to stay on top of incoming storms, download one.
If you're a touringplans subscriber, you'll want their app to check lines and modify touring plans.
If you're ordering grocery delivery, you'll want to have downloaded and set up the app for the company you plan to use.

Other random stuff:
- A fitness app/step tracker, so you can marvel at how many miles you walked every day
- Life 360 or another free app that your entire party can download on their phones, that allows to you "track" one another unobtrusively if you split up (so you're not calling someone to find out where they are, only to bother them in the middle of a ride)
- If you're renting a car or flying, the apps for your airline and/or rental car company will allow you to make speedy modifications, download confirmations/boarding passes, and confirm reservation details
- If there's any reason you might need to verify your vaccination status at any location to (or through) which you'll be traveling (I'm not aware of any now, but that could change at any time), see if your state offers an app or virtual vaccine passport (e.g., NY Excelsior Pass) that you can upload to your phone for easy access
