We arrive at the orlando airport at 8:30 on wed. 8/23. How long do you think it will be before we get our bags at the hotel? Wednesday isn't really a big travel day right?

AM or PM?

AM: You can check in, get your keys and head to the parks. By the time you get back, the bags will be in the room.

PM: You'll likely have them by 11PM. If you want to go to sleep before they're delivered, you can ask Bell Services to hold them until you call in the morning. They'll be in your room about 10-20 minutes after you call.

Either way, you should have essentials to cover your first few hours in your carry-on.

We're arriving around 3:30 on a Tuesday. We have Dinner Reservations at 1900 PF at 7:30 that night. Any chance we'll have our bags by say 6:30pm?

I would not count on it. Your bags are not on the same bus that you are on when you leave the airport. The baggage transport happens at certain times during the day, then is dispatched from a central place on property, so it takes a few hours to get it. I would recomend that you either wear or cary on whatever you need for that evening. There should not be any problem getting your luggage before 10pm.

Would I be able to carry our luggage on the actual bus then and forego Disney bringing it to the resort. Sorry for the questions but I haven't been since 2001... before, ME.

yes you can pick up your own bags - just don't put the ME tags on them.

you can take your bags to check in if your room is not ready, then you can go to the parks and they will put your bags in the room for you when your room is done..so my guess would be they will be in the room sometime durning the day..

When we went to WDW in the end of February, we arrived at Coronado Springs at about 4:30. DME lost our bags, and we didn't get them until just in time the next morning so we wouldn't have to wear our airplane clothes to the parks. It was super fun, sleeping in jeans....

But yeah, pack essentials (such as pajamas, a change of clothes, shampoo, makeup, etc) in your carry-on, so if the same thing happens to you, you'll be ok.

I guess it is either my paranoia of the airline losing my luggage or years of having a mother who would have put the Boy Scouts to shame with her "be prepared" attitude, either way I always pack in my carry-on a complete change of clothes (underwear and socks), a bathing suit, pj's and all required toiletries and medication. I make sure this is in everyone's carry-on, son, husband, brother, cousins etc. If you are worried about not having your stuff right away, pack it. I have a cousin who actually will pack some of everyone's stuff in each suitcase so that if one bag gets lost, there are always clothes available for everyone.

I agree with the carry-on approach packed with some key essentials. Why go to hassle of dealing with your bags. We had a great experience with Magical Express. In fact, when we traveled by the time we got to the resort, checked in (and yes, our room was ready about noon when we arrived), we went to room to freshen up, and our bags showed up within minutes of getting to our room. Needless to say, we were very surprised and pleased. You just cannot count on that quick of a turn-around. So just take one extra carry-on with your essentials, then relax, have fun and don't worry about it. It all works out in the end.

Regarding Wednesday travel, don't count on it being a slow day. Every day seems busy at the airports these days. Plus, in my opinion it seems easier to get better travel deals, frequent flier seats, etc. on Tues/Weds since I believe airlines are trying to steer leisure travels away early and late week which are heavy travel days for the business flyers.

Have fun!! We are headed there again in September and cannot wait!!

We also have a carry-on or two if necessary with everything that we need for one day/night for all of us. With the amount of luggage that is lost by airlines each day, I don't want the first day/night of my trip ruined. Also on our return, the carry-on is filled with our souvenirs. I wouldn't be nearly as upset if the airline lost a suitcase full of dirty clothes.

FYI - on another post regarding DME, someone posted that if your luggage is lost by the airlines, DME can expidite lost luggage situations quicker than the traveller claiming their own luggage.
