MAGICAL EXPRESS QUESTION

Hey guys :) I've read online somewhere that you can take magical express to the airport without actually getting on a plane.. Basically by finding a flight on your check out day close to the time u want to be there and you give them that flight number... Does anyone know if I can actually do this? If so what do I do about my luggage situation? Hoping someone can help

Thanks :)

Yes, you can just take DME to the airport.

And there's no need to bother with fake flight info, just call DME directly and set it up: (866)599-0951. Tell them what time you'd like to leave for the airport and they'll put you in the system for the closest pickup time.

As for luggage, just take it on the bus with you.

Is the reverse true?we are flying in really late the night before our reservations start at the Boardwalk. We got a hotel near the airport that had a free shuttle to/from airport. Could we take a shuttle the morning after we arrive back to the airport and then take the DME to our resort?

Yes, you can take DME on your check-in day even if you're not arriving on a plane the day you want to take DME. Just call the DME number I gave earlier and they can set you up.

Just be aware you will not be able to use the luggage delivery service. You'll have to claim your bags after your flight, bring them to your airport hotel, then back to the airport. The DME bus driver will then put them under your bus for the ride to Boardwalk.

I also have a DME question. My reservation is for a Cabin at Fort Wilderness and I'm arriving early in the morning. I'd like to go over to Riverside for breakfast and then I'm picking up a rental car at the Car Care Center. Will DME allow me to take the Riverside bus with my reservation being for Fort Wilderness?

No, they will only transport you to the resort that you're booked into.

Now, if they *happen* to stop at Riverside on their way to Fort Wilderness (offhand I don't know if they're ever grouped together) and you don't have any luggage stored under the bus (which would only be taken off the bus at Fort Wilderness), there's nothing stopping you from getting off at Riverside... :angelic:

I've been on the riverside bus....it goes to POFQ, key west and saratoga.

I have another DME question. If I got a DVC villa at the poly, but am staying at shades of green for a few days, can I take the DME a couple days before I check in to the poly? I know it will take me to the poly and I'm fine with walking across the street. I'm asuming the answer is no, but its worth trying to save some money :p

No. DME will only transport you on (or after) your check-in date.

Ok my question we are flying from England, do we need to collect our luggage because of customs etc or will that be all taken care of? And roughly how long does it take for luggage to come to your room and will it just be delivered to room regardless if we there or not?

I think you have to take your luggage with because you will be going through customs and they make you pick up your luggage to go through that area. I could be wrong since I've never flown international into MCO. But you might be able to take advantage of checking your luggage on your way back home at the resort (and you'd pick it up at your home airport), depending on your airline. Otherwise you put it back on the Magical Express.

Resort Airline Check-In is for guests flying domestically only. International passengers have to check their bags at the airport.

have you considered a town car service?
Whilst it costs, it's a lot quicker than getting to the resort by MDE, especially after an 8 hour flight.
We have done both and much prefer paying the $80 for a town car which we have found can get you to your resort 2-3 earlier than MDE- much more relaxing when you are feeling pretty tired! Also means we can use that time checking out the resort and having a swim, rather than crashing straight into bed, given the five hour time difference!
We've used either Tiffanys or Quicksilver, both of which we have found to be excellent.

Technically, after you've cleared U.S. Customs, you can drop your bags off and DME will deliver them to your resort room. Because they don't send the yellow tags to the UK, DME will need your luggage claim tags and a description of each bag [having a printed photo of each bag can speed up the process]. I think at that point you're better off to just take them with you on the bus. If your room isn't ready at check-in, you can store your bags with Bell Services and head out to the parks.

No might think about it but to be honest it don't bother that much time wise and would like to try ME as last time we flew into Sanford. But thank you for the advice.

Thank you I think time we land and arrive at airport it will be around 6ish your time so the bloody room better be ready!
