Magical Express Question

Hi, I booked my magical express ten days out from my departure. I was a little confused and thought I had to wait that long. My question is what do I do if I don't get my luggage tags in time?:(

I'm sorry, but that is incorrect. They will indeed deliver your *yellow tagged* luggage without you being in the room. This is a benefit specifically mentioned in DME paperwork and even the video on the bus, and has always been the policy.

However that's only for DME tagged luggage. Luggage simply held by Luggage Services because you gave it to them when you got to the hotel, or luggage being transferred from another resort, you must be in the room to receive.

If that's true then they changed their policy. I haven't used the DME service to handle my bags since 2009 because when we got to our rooms at the Caribbean Beach resort we allowed them to deliver the bags to our room and went to straight to the park.. when we got back later the bags weren't in the room and we had to call the desk where we were told that they had tried to deliver them earlier but no one was there... we then waited almost 2 hours to for them to arrive. If they changed their system that's good to know but in the past it wasn't as you describe which is why we stopped using it years ago.

I've been using the luggage service on arrival since its inception and I've never had to be in my room for them to deliver. Either there was something unusual in your particular case that precluded normal delivery or you're misremembering. The policy has been the same throughout.

Not misremembering because I was so annoyed at having to wait for the luggage we never used there service again. I even remember asking them why they didn't just leave it in the room while we were out and was told by the CM that they couldn't just leave it in a room they had to have someone there to accept it.

In that case you got bad information from the CM at the time. Yours is the only case I can recall ever hearing of this happening with DME tagged luggage.

Technically you don't have to have the tags for them to collect and deliver your bags. You can go to the DME check-in counter and describe your bags for them [I used to take a digital photo of each bag and print it off before leaving - speeds up the description process]. They'll send a staff member to collect your bags and they'll still deliver to your resort room.

Probably just as easy to pick them up yourself. Odds are you'll be 20-30 minutes later getting on a bus than if they do it.
Yep....I've done this before. Keep your baggage claim tickets when you check your bags for your flight, and then give the DME people those tickets and they will get your bags for you. No need to worry or fuss, you can still do the regular process that way.

I have been using DME since they first started it. I have always returned to my room after going to a park and they have always been there,
This is the first time I have heard of them only delivering if someone is there. That makes no sense. Why would they not deliver? Housekeeping goes in there everyday.

We used Magical Express on our Feb./ March trip...our luggage arrived in our room...along with two unlocked bags that were not ours. They came and got those bags promptly...but who knows how long someone was waiting on them...because they were left in our room by mistake.
