Magical Express/Luggage Tag Question

Hi Everyone-
Long story short my husband and I are heading to Disney next week. I didn't get a Magical Express booklet due to some confusion with the castmember and our hotel reservation. However I was told that I don't need the booklet. The CM told me that when we get to the airport to go the the Magical Express counter give them my resort reservation # and my luggage claim stubs and someone would get our bags and we could hop on the bus. The whole luggage part worries me! Our luggage stubs don't state that we are staying at a Disney resort. Do they print something out to go with our luggage claim stubs? Has anyone heard of this? Thanks in advance!!!!

Thanks!!

Thanks for the information! My husband and I have always used Magical Express and I was so surprised when the CM told me I didn't need the booklet! I just had to check with others to make sure I was understanding everything correctly. I think we'll let Disney take care of our bags. Thanks again!!!!

To make things even easier for them, I would print out a picture of your bags to give them as well. They will still be able to do it without that, but it can't hurt for them to have a photo as well.

If I remember correctly, your luggage tag/sticker (from Disney) should have your info on it. Our tags were bright yellow and were printed with our names and I think a barcode and had a resort code on there too. I would think that as long as you stick those on there they should find the bags.

I've done the claim tags thing because we didn't get the booklet or the luggage tags. They ask you to identify what your bag looks like [they have a huge charts with every conceivable style of bag], I took a quick photo of each bag before leaving and printed them off before leaving home. The photos sped up the check-in process a lot and our bags were retrieved by DME and delivered to our resort room sometime while we were in the parks that day.

It worked great.

The booklet is just physical confirmation of your reservation. They can print out the same info at the desk with no problem. People forget them/lose them all the time.
The yellow luggage tag just lets the baggage get pulled off behind the scenes. If you don't have the tag, your bags will still go on the carousel, and then when you don't claim them, they will be taken to the luggage storage area for the airline you flew in on. There is a chance that DME would grab them from the carousel if you were wicked fast to the counter, but more likely they would grab them the airline storage area. The airlines scan the unclaimed bags to keep track of them, so DME just goes to the airline and asks where bags x,y, and z are. Confirming your luggage description just helps them to make sure they have the right bags. Just make sure to keep track of your claim stubs from the airline.

And put your name on the bags.

It is amazing how often people don't do this.

And just as importantly, put your name and contact info *inside* your bags, too. If all tags are somehow lost off of the outside of the bag, it ensures that the bag will (eventually) get to you.

Besides taking a photo for ME , a friend of mine who travels extensively for business gave us a tip. He marks the outside of his luggage or bags with colored duct tape or marker, with an X or some other design which sets the luggage apart from everyone else's. Makes it handy to spot immediately on the luggage carrousel. Says he sometimes just wraps colored tape on the luggage handle. We tried that and it definitely cuts down on time spotting and retrieving multiple baggage.
