Magical Express: Do I need to be staying at the hotel the day I depart?

We will be staying at WL on our next trip. The wife and I have decided to extend our trip an extra 2 days, and are contemplating the Swan/Dolphin. Can we use ME from WL on our return, even if we did not stay at WL that day?

You can only use DME the day you check out [or earlier if not everyone is leaving the same day]. If you're at Swan/Dolphin, you're not eligible.

Swan and Dolphin are not part of the Magical Express Service? I did not realize that. Might change some of my options for my next trip...

Swan and Dolphin are not Disney-owned resorts, so there's no Magical Express and no dining plans.

You would get other on-site guest benefits like access to EMH and free parking at the theme parks.
