Magical Express-cruise then parks - will that work?

Hi everyone,

I searched for a similar topic but was not able to locate one, so here goes:

DW has talked me into a three-day Disney cruise, and we leave from Port Canaveral on February 7th, 2013. We arrive arrive back at Port Canaveral on February 10th, and then we'll be off to VWL through the 13th via rented DVC points. I gave my flight info (to MCO 2/7, back home 2/13) to the DVC owner to add DME to our stay, but she is saying that DME can only be added to match the dates of your stay. That makes perfect sense to me, but I had asked the travel agent that booked our cruise about this, and she indicated that DME has seen this configuration before, and that we would be able to add DME and just use it for the return potion.

Does anyone know if this will actually work? I don't want to circumvent the system...just get my facts straight. TIA! :D

They don't need your flight arrival info, just departure, and this can be done.
Thanks DisneyJoe - I'll let the DVC owner know

EDIT - well, I'm getting some pushback from the DVC owner about this. She claims it can't be done. I know I spun the roulette wheel when I rented from an individual, but she seems legit (I have a signed agreement from her plus favorable comments and recommendations from the DIS Boards folkd in the rent/trade forum). Do DVC owners make these additions to a reservation online, or do they talk to someone to do it? If they can do it online, do they leave the departure date field(s) blank and just popoulate the arrival field for our return trip home?

The DVC owner is dead wrong.

You're looking for only a ride back to the airport on your check-out day, right? DME doesn't have to be two way. It can be one way, in either direction. The DVC owner is wrong. Politely insist that she call DVC Member Services to make that return reservation for you.

I don't know a lot in life, but I truly know all of the ins and outs of DME, and I promise you that you 100% definitely can use DME just for your return to the airport.

Seriously. She needs to call DVC Member Services.

Thanks Eric - the DVC owner did get back to me and say that she had never encountered this situation before, so I'm hoping that she was just uninformed. In the meantime, the TA that booked our cruise gave me a direct # for DME. I called them, and they echoed exactly what you said, and that I could sign up for just the ride home, and that I could do it myself w/out the DVC owner (though DME directly), as long as I had the room reservation # (which I have). The only caveat that DME gave me was that they said that their calendars for 2013 had not opened yet, so I should call back in October, which will still be 90 days out.
