I love the comment on the article that this guy was obviously a Disney plant and that DCL was looking for free advertising for the "rescue".....

It has since been reported there was no wave, it was all in the mans mind. He is a very lucky individual, for him to be seen from any ship, without a life vest, the choppy sea and sun glare etc.

Both DCL and I believe NCL(there maybe others) are testing new state of the art systems, with infrared/heat detecting ability. Supposedly able to see a deck of cards sized object go over the side and denotes the difference between that and a person.

DCL is known in the industry to have excellently trained crews, especially in sea rescue. Their record stands for itself. The Lawyer is known as a bottom feeder and this is just the usual trash talk proving that he does not know what he are talking about and looking for attention.

NCL, for sure, is testing overboard detection systems. I can't find any references to DCL testing them so I don't think that they are.

Actually they have already installed them a year or so ago. It was part of a round table discussion a while ago. The subject was included because of the number of passengers and crew members that go/fall overboard each year It has been over 20 each year since 2009.

There is no way this person was swept off by a wave. They are def. trying to avoid getting in trouble for doing something they should not have been doing. Kudos for DCL for spotting this person!

There was no wave, you are totally correct. Any wave high enough the wash a person of the promenade deck of the Oasis class would have rolled the ship enough to have everyone upset and maybe even holding on. This was a story made up and existed only in the guys mind!

Rogue waves are bad publicity for the cruise industry and the crews are sworn to secrecy about the incidents. On regular cruise ships they buy off the passengers with free drinks and gambling chips to insure their silence on the matter. On the DCL they buy the passenger's silence with extended meet and greets with Anna, Elsa and Olaf.

No sober passenger should be falling overboard by accident. The wave explanation is also implausible. There is nothing at all indicating inordinately high sea rolls in that area, which is something that would have been recorded in the ship's logs. This guy just did something extremely stupid. What that was, only he knows, and possibly anyone he may have been traveling with on RCL.

By way of academic discussion, I wonder whether his time on the Magic would qualify him to pre-book a future Disney cruise with the discount ... my gut is saying no ..... (I am also guessing that he was returned to the RCL at the first opportunity).
