just wondering if anyone knows where the magic music days workshops are held at? it is sad, i fell asleep from TTC parking lot to where ever the building was that we had our workshop at. i went with my HS band in 2000, great experience, only wish we had got to march in a parade rather than play at the DD Marketplace stage.

My daughter went last April, but they didn't have any workshops. They marched at Epcot and went to a backstage area to get into uniform and warm-up. My son went in 1994 and they got to be in the Magic Kingdom Parade ! I'll call him this weekend and ask him if he went to any workshops and let you know, in case no one else has an answer before then. My daughter's hoping there's a chance she may get to go again with her band. It originally had a 4 year rotation for Disney trips so that everyone had the chance to go once. 9/11 through the rotation off when that year's trip was cancelled, so there may be a second time before it irons out again.

I once saw a magic music days group playing at MGM while passing through the costuming warehouse on the left as part of the backlot tour. It looked like it may have been a workshop. :veryconfu They weren't there to be part of the tour, but we could see them, so they waved. heh.

im in my HS's color guard and we marched last April in the Magic Kingdom. We don't do workshops anymore, just a little backstage area where we get dressed in basically air conditioned trailers...probably what you were in..and that's it..of course it was fun seeing pictures of us performing in front of the castle!

I did Magic Music Days back in 1998... We played on the (now torn down) Tomorrowland Stage. We got ready in the back... behind Splash Mountain, and we could see some parade floats. I remember walking in right by Jungle Cruise and Pirates. We were told NOT to take ANY pictures... but of course being me, I went and took a couple of quick shots... you can't really see much though.

We didn't have any workshops though... sorry.

yea thats what we did too..they told us if we took pictures the camera would be taken away and we'd be asked to leave the park...i think they just told us that to scare us

but it was pretty disapointing to see the back of splash mountain as a big building with steel supports..and seeing Aladdin in a baseball cap :(

but it was cool walking back from the parade..we were able to hear the elephants and animals in Jungle Cruise...and before we marched...we saw the (please forgive me for forgetting what theyre called) drummers that use buckets and stuff? lol we saw them practicing their new show..it was awesome

Don't give up all hope yet!
I went in 1999 with my band (as a member of the Color Guard and Choir) We marched in the MK parade, got a tour of the utilidors. That evening we went to the TTC, and took a bus to a large building near to DTD. There we were able to get changed, warm up, etc, then we walked across the street, and the Chior performed on the stage across from the WoD store. (This might be the place you had your workshop, since it is not in a park) We personally had our workshop in Epcot, in a room in the back of Italy. There the band learned and recorded a score to Aladdin, which Disney put to the actual movie, and gave us a copy.
I'm sorry this is so long, I hope it helped, though.

My high school band was supposed to do this my senior year. But because of 9/11 the school district forced us to cancel our trip because we were flying. A bunch of us seniors (including the director's son) tried to convince our director to drive down there instead of fly but he didn't want to spend 26 hours on a bus with 100 teenagers. Instead we got to go to Cleveland (definately not Disney World!).

I got to do this last school year, did MK... Go through backstage gate next to POTC, walkbehind Jungle cruse, see the train traveling over us.. not much to see.. then we got to the air constioned trailers, changed clothes and got into paracticing... We did not get a clinic, but I did get to see the floats preped for the day parade. Fun times...

Well, when I did Magic Music Days in 1996 with my dance company, we took a workshop. It was a dance workshop where we learned a routine to a funky version of Mickey Mouse Club March and then at the end, Mickey came out and performed with us. I don't remember exactly where that was, but for some reason, I think it was in Epcot. We danced at Epcot at a stage which is no longer there. I ended up doing Magic Music Days, four times, three times with my dance company and once with my HS band and chorus.

I know that they do have some workshops at Studios at the old Doug theater. Well, at least they did in 2003 when i was working there. I'm not sure where else they do hold them though!

I was able to go to the Magic Music Days this past April. We did a work shop and were able to march in the Magic Kingdom Parade. The workshop was located at some media compound by DD around Old Key West and Port Orleans.

I wonder if the workshops are connected with the type of performing group you are in and where you are performing? I went with choir in 1995 and 1998 and no workshops for us. We did the stage next to 20,000 Leagues and Dumbo in 1995 (we had some rehearsal space in costuming, I believe). In 1998, we performed in Epcot near the land, but again had no special workshop - heck I don't even remember having a rehearsal space that year. Our band went both years too, in 95, also performing at the Fantasyland Faire (I think!) theatre. In 98, though, they marched around World Showcase lagoon and had all the lights dimmed for them as they travelled around (not bad for a band with 50 members and bad stepping). But again, so workshop for them.

I wonder if the workshops were something that had to be paid for extra?
I wonder if the workshops have only been offered during certain years?
I wonder if groups like dance groups get different treatment than others?

Interesting.... great experience though. Clearly the highlights of high school.

to kind of answer one of those questions...i think there are def. seperate workshops for dance groups etc...my color guard..years ago did a dance workshop, while the band did music...so im just considering it depended on what group you were in..my color guard (in 2000) did some sort of workshop in i believe animal kingdom..not exactly where though
