News Magic Kingdom's Main Street Confectionery closing for refurbishment

We need time for things to happen.
We will miss it this upcoming trip if I am being honest, this bugs me a lot more than I ever thought it would. :( I just realized this place is one of those WDW "little things".

I hope they don't mess with the aesthetic and over all vibe too much.

I am kidding myself aren't I?

I may try to linger a bit longer in there next week, maybe take a few extra pictures and video the interior.

This is exactly what they need on the actual Boardwalk at Disney.

I too am worried about diluting the turn of the century theme, though. This sounds like a significant overhaul and we all know how much current Disney likes turning everything into sterile, modern spaces.
This is the Main Street candy shop at Disneyland Paris...and I agree! the Boardwalk's candy shop was always a little sad...not as fabulous as it should have been, and now sadly gone.

My guess -- less "fresh," more pre-packaged, which, as we all know, is "more timely, more Disney, more family-friendly"...

I thought this was interesting as I just read a post from somewhere else about a person wanting exactly this - more of the freshly made choices available as prepackaged.

Prepackaged chocolate means less manpower needed behind the counter. Money-saver. They could just put the chocolates on a stand or something to that effect. It also stops people from sifting through the individual lollypops/hard candies looking for the ones they want. More sanitary.

I think they were talking about the goodies made in the display cases that aren't packaged but you have to choose. They want to see those available as already packaged products.

Yes
But....if it is pre-packaged you can be certain it won't be freshly made...Production will be moved to a manufacturer and whoever does it cheapest will win the bid... cough CHINA cough cough....

I've got something for that...

but if they are pre-packaging everything they will in short order all production onsite... It will happen....

I'm not arguing that. I was just originally quoting the poster who predicted that this will happen that I read people already asking for it.

So Disney can say "we are giving you what you want!". :D
