In August 2009 when I visited WDW last, I came across some very nice watches that are avaliable around the grounds (great prices to). I was just wondering was there any spots I should check out while at WDW this time around (august 2011)

I don't know of any particular shops with good watches in them. I seen them all over to, just like you said.

I have found WoD to have the "best" selection of Disney watches. Best being a reletive term.

In reality, there are precious few good Disney watches to be found. They do have an automatic now, and somehow it is insanely (cheaply) priced at somthing like $175. It must be made of plastic and keeps time to the nearest 1/2 hour.

I have found that most of the CM's at the watch counters really do not know the product they are selling. I usualy ask if there are any new automatics in whenever I go. I said to the one CM "Automatic - you know, self winding" and they brought out an EcoDrive, and insisted that since it does not need to be wound, it is self winding. It's really not their fault, they just get stuck behind a counter at the start of their shift.

I purchased one through Avon (no I am not a rep, I don't sell them and I don't know how you can get one.) that has a silver Mickey silhouette on a Mother of pearl face. It is not big and clunky, I wear it with my business suits and no one is any wiser that I have on a Disney watch 

It is not an expensive or high quality watch at all! I paid $50 and now they are like $29.00. So if you are looking for high value that will last a lifetime, this is not the watch.

It has held up very well considering I wear it every day. Plus, I just really like it. 

I bought a Skagen about a year ago from Uptown Jewelers. It's a titanium watch which is SIGNIFICANTLY lighter than my previous cheap Stainless steel watch. I thought the band would be more scratch resistant too but that doesnt seem to be the case. Although since titanium is a duller metal than Steel, the scratches that you get from everyday wear aren't nearly as visible or obvious. Regardless, it is a very nicely made watch from Denmark with a lifetime warranty and after my AP discount I think it ended up costing me about $160. I've been pleased with it, and it will do nicely until I'm ready to upgrade to something alittle more pricey/classy.

I was in MK this month, I too was looking for a watch (though I did not get one) I just went to a bunch of shops and looked around. Lots of the shops had all of the same watches but they did have a few different ones, just look around and find one you like

I have 3 really good Disney watches (Skagen) and a few cheaper ones. The more expensive ones are sold at Contemporary Hotel, GF Hotel, AKL, Mouse Gears (Epcot),
Yacht & Beach Club, Polynesian Hotel. Also on Main Street at Magic Kingdom of course the Watch Store :). Not sure if I have saw them anywhere else. These Skagen watches really are great, I love em. :wave:The cheaper watches can be found in most stores at all the parks.

does anyone know if the citizen ecodrive watches are still available in the parks? I've looked online in Disney's web store and they seem to indicate that they have long been discontinued....

Basically, yes, at MK that is correct.

There are books about the watches sold, but the stock constantly changes and gets moved around...it's difficult to keep up, especially when the CM's are actually rotated through 9 different locations depending on what time or day it is...not that I have personal insight or anything :animwink:

:hurl: do yourself a favor and spent the same amount of money on a used disney watch from the 80's. The craftsmanship will be substantially better, plus it will be unique and have character...no pun.

As a side note to that, anyone looking for a "nice" watch should not be getting something from JCPenny (or any other department store or mall jewelry store for that matter). Every real man deserves a real timepiece. If you are a women wearing a nice timepiece, my hats off to you.

Nothing is more frustrating than hearing someone someone spew "do yourself a favor" and the advice that follows is either foolish, lacks any thought on the original question or both.

For the record, Citizen Ecodrive watches are among the most reliable watches in the 250-300 dollar range. I purchased one in 1999 that is still ticking...and has outlived a Tag watch priced 5x as much as my ecodrive cost me.

While the current timex junk currently offered by Disney would be suspect to most people, a watch made by Citizen in the Ecodrive line is a good solid watch.

Your suggestion is neither useful or relevant...as I didn't ask about used watches from the 80s.....nor would I purchase a 30 year old watch when I consider the product to be inferior to what is offered by Citizen.

I would recommend using the phrase "do yourself a favor" only when you both have a good understanding of the subject at hand and understand clearly, what the person is asking.

Got a titanium Skagen with a hidden mickey on it. Tells the time, date, day of the week, and hour of day. I absolutely love mine I wear it every day!! I actually got mine at the airport, lame I know but, I had initially fallen in love with the watch at the watch store on main street but I was hesitant to spend the money. All the way to the airport I thought about the watch so I just decided to get it if they had it there. They did in the Disney store and it was the same price as the ones in the park.

I had one to with a hidden mickey and Disney written in small letters where the brand would go. It was a good looking stainless steel dual watch with the military hours, the day and the date. It was also very thin and light unlike most of those dual watches. It was a great design and I should of had it restored. My friends had no idea it was a Disney watch and envied it. Sadly the Water Resistant gasket was unreliable and it leaked. RIP best watch I have ever had :(. If I ever find one again I am taking advantage of the warranty.

I've seen the term "automatic" several times here. Is this what we used to call "self winding" back in the day? Also, what's an "eco-drive"?
I wouldn't mind having a nice Mickey watch, but I'm not sure what to look for.

Automatic watches tend to be very high end watches, as the feature is usually present in rolex, tag, etc watches. There's a mechanism in the watch gears that allows the watch to self wind trough general hand movement. So long as you wear the watch daily and have more arm movement that Steven Hawkins, you never have to wind the watch much or at all.

The Citizen Eco-Drive watches are basically solar powered watches. The watch face is a solar panel and it powers the watch. I've had a titanium Eco drive since 99 that has never once stopped ticking. I first charged it in the sun in Aruba where I first bought it...and so long as you wear it frequently and get the watch under some light, either natural or artificial, it will stay powered.

i understand the subject of watches very clearly. I have looked at the watches they offer in the parks several times and would not waste my money on one. The designs are terrible and the overall quality doesn't seem much better, regardless of how much money you are willing to spend.

Either way, it's my opinion and you're not going to change my mind. I stand by what I said, that I would much rather have a 30 year old Bradley than a new Citizen.

I suggest you not ask open questions on a forum with thousands of members if you do not actually want answers and/or opinions.

I didn't ask for an opinion. I asked whether or not anyone knew whether Disney was still selling the branded Citizen Eco-Drive watches. The question was not only specific but extremely targeted to a particular answer. You ignored those aspects of my question so that you can deliver a self-serving answer steeped in an opinion that no one asked for.

I suggest you return to 2nd grade reading comprehension. You clearly didn't do well when you took it the first time.

I was there last October 2010 (so things may have changed), but I did find the ecodrives at Animal Kingdom Lodge, World of Disney in the jewlery area, and at the Disney Animation store at Hollywood Studios.

Hope that helps.

Edit - also say them in Magic Kingdom in a glass case by a column. The column was in the Hall of Champions store back where you can get into Casey's Corner hotdogs. And also at Hollywood Studios, there is a small glass case in what used to be Disney Watch Works, but is now called Sunset Club Couture.

I was looking for a nice watch last October. I didn't come home with one:( They did have a Citizens I liked at the Poly but only had the display and I didn't want that one. I think Keystone Clothiers and Sunset Club Couture both Hollywood Studios had a fair selection.

My husband has a "Disney Time Works" brand watch that has been great (granted it's only 4 years old) I bought one 3 years ago and had to return one before we even left for home and then send the 2nd one back after we got home. It just didn't keep time at all even with a new battery.
