Magic Kingdom to test earlier closing on Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party event nights

Has it been confirmed there won't be fastpass after 6?

And I would expect day guests to be able to enter the standby line up through 6 PM, so part of that hour will be about clearing through those already in line. But it's still unfortunate for day guests who used to be able to get in line until 7.

With the earlier close time though, it should be even less appealing to people, so it should be an even lower crowd day. I would absolutely go on a party day. One hour less wouldn't deter me.

I can't see how there would be. FP+ is only available to regular guests until closing. Currently and with MNSSHP, guests for the party enter as early as 4pm which means they can schedule three FPs until 7pm. Regular guests cannot ride from 7pm on. Wtih a 6pm closing, FP+ would end at 6pm also.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I wonder if too many people were getting in stand by last minute and somehow managed to stay in the park. The only time I've been asked if I had a party ticket is if I tried to get on a ride.
I'll be there as a day guest and then staying for the party. Do I need to go out and re-enter?

You know what's funny?
I think the buffer is actually a good thing. Seems like a reasonable idea for there to be a transition between the regular park hours and the party hours. Otherwise, it can get really crazy with a flux of people trying to leave the park at the same time the party starts. I am surprised they are only doing this for the Christmas parties.

I do, however, understand the point that regular guests lose time in the MK, especially if there are a lot of parties that week.

No, you go to one of the in park locations and pick up your wrist band

Well, you'd also think that they'd trial it too. Guess the Christmas parties won that coin flip, lol.

If they were to adjust the price of the one-day park admission for those dates, that could/would be a concession, but with operating hours being less during that time of year, they're probably thinking that people have enough opportunity to do what they want.

No need for a trial, it was standard practice in 2004 .. not sure when they stopped

Knowing TDO, they'd probably try to charge more on party days, claiming "the park is less crowded, so you get to experience MORE of the MAGIC!!!"

The difference between now and 2005 is that there are literally 50% more parties than there were back then, but with 4 million more guests coming through the gates. From Nov 9-17 during my trip, there are SIX party nights versus THREE non-party nights. I actually support the idea of a break before the party to give MVMCP people what they paid for, but a 6PM close is too far. It's obscene.

one day tickets are a terrible value anyway. Solution is just don't go the MK that day. Problem solved. But the "unfair" logic just isn't true. If you choose to go to the park on a party day those are the operating hours but doesn't mean it isn't fair.

Trouble is that's not an option if say you are in town for business or convention and only HAVE one day to see WDW in which case you will probably visit the MK.

This change is most needed, there are way to many people trying to remain in the park for the party without paying.

HOW DARE THOSE REGULAR GUESTS TRY AND GET ONE LAST RIDE IN?!?!?!?!? THE NERVE OF SOME PEOPLE!!!!!

It's good that MK is closing at 6pm for 13 of 22 days in December leading up to Christmas! Don't have an extra $400 to bring your family to the party? TOO BAD LOSER! Get a better job!!!!
