Magic Kingdom Summer Nightastic Dance Party

Went to Magic Kingdom tonight to check out all the Summer Nightastic offerings and caught a little bit of the dance party that will be held nightly in Tomorrowland. It is called the "Club 626" Dance Party and features a DJ along with Stitch, Goofy, and Pluto (these were the three characters that I saw, but I'm not sure if different characters appear throughout the night). Here is some video that I took of the dance party:

While I'm not that interested in the dance party, it does offer something fun and different for families with kids and at least it is putting that stage to use. One thing I didn't really understand about the dance party was the video that was playing on the screen. It seemed just to be a bunch of Disney commercials with really no rhyme or reason to them.

Wow, yet another way that Disneyland outdoes WDW. TLT is so much better.

Uh, yeah, that video was rather depressing and a bit painful to watch.

Maybe it will get better after a few weeks practice? Maybe if they didn't play The Macarena for FIVE MINUTES STRAIGHT? :o

This WDW attempt seemed to be aimed at little kids and their moms, which is not the demographic they need to aim for IMO. Disneyland succeeds by packing the Tomorrowland Terrace dancefloor every night with trendy 19 year old girls. And where the girls are, the boys are, and the whole thing is fresh and fun to watch even if you don't get out and dance with the kids.

Something like this Disneyland staple at Tomorrowland Terrace would work better I would think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjVWWLU_Dbw&feature=related

Not old, just vintage.
That's embarrassing. 5 minutes of the macarena? That is the best they can come up with?! A live band would be a significantly better choice (like they have in DL) If live performers aren't in the budget they could at least get a DJ that isn't depressed and provide him with some music from this decade to play.

They have been utilizing the Rockettower Stage for "Club 626" dance parties during peak periods/parties. Nothing you can't see at Pleasure Island's "Celebrate Tonight."

I mean its just the first night and the rush of the summer crowds havent even come in yet. I'm sure it'll get better in time. I mean dang, I wish I could share some of yall's cynicism about things but most of the time I cant.

Either way I think it's a cool idea. It's good that they're putting that stage to use and it does remind me of DL and it should be cool for the summer.

Listen to that DJ play The Macarena for just over five minutes straight on that YouTube clip, and you'll be able to tap into some cynicism.

Lol ok, you got me there. Let's just hope they bring better choices in the future. Id love to get down with some electric slide, or Cupid shuffle, but I doubt the DJ would crank it like that. And even if they did, I'd probably be too busy using fastpasses for space mt. to notice lol.

I saw it on Saturday night during the passholder preview and they had a lady and she didn't stay behind her booth. She was in the middle of the stage dancing the whole time. She really kept the audiance going and moving every time that we walked by there. I know that several times the 3 characters were on the stage with the DJ and most of the times they were ground level mainly up near the front of the stage.

In all fairness, this is a five minute video of a dance party that lasts for five hours. This was all that I saw of the dance party so I don't know what it was like for the rest of the night.

Ah, yes. The electric slide will really pull in the kids!
