Magic Kingdom on Jan. 3

Being a Florida resident AP owner, I am a frequent visitor to the parks. Some friends of mine from college were down this weekend for a wedding a wanted to spend Saturday at the Magic Kingdom. There were six of us total and three were first timers, so i wanted it to be a good experience for them but I was nervous about the crowd size. While Saturday had the largest crowds I have ever seen at MK, we had an amazing time! It is so much fun to be at WDW with someone who has never experienced it before. They absolutely loved it! We were able to see and ride everything we wanted to, sometimes even twice. I even caught a couple of them crying during Wishes. I think long time Disney fans can easily become jaded to the magical experiences of the park and then they complain on these boards. I have discovered that when I am with a first timer at the parks, it recaptures the magic for me too and in a way it is like I am experiencing everything for the first time.

The biggest low on our day was during COP a loud voice came on the mic and said THIS THEATER IS ABOUT TO ROTATE. PLEASE STAND CLEAR OF THE DOORS. We were upset because it woke us up from our nap! Just kidding all you COP fans...kinda...

Anyway, just wanted to brag on my favorite place in the world. While WDW is not perfect, they are still doing a whole lot right! Keep up the good work Mickey!

Sounds like you had a great time! I cant wait until I have the opportunity to guide somebody through Disney World who has never been before! I feel like when i try to explain how great something is to somebody they just don't get it because they didn't experience it so to show them first hand would be amazing!

It's even better when it is a child. Going to the park with older kids is almost stressful. You spend your time planning and trying to accomplish everything. You skip parades because you know the line are shorter, etc. But, when we went in April with my then 2yo, it was a completely different experience for all of us. Even my 12yo smiled ear to ear when my 2yo met Mickey. It wasn't his first time, but he didn't remember his first time since he was only 18mos old. We're going back in November and I'm sure my 4yo (does time fly) will re-experience many things for the first time.

The CoP safety speil sounds new! Perhaps there's been issues with people not realizing a Carousel actually 'moves'...? ;)

Thanks for sharing and glad to hear you had a great time.
