Does anyone else love when a video takes up 22gb on your hard drive....

been there.. 16 videos of my trip to Alaska Via DCL..
43Gb and they were 720p lol

I was going to say 22gb of video isn't that much. I have 300+ gb of raw video footage just from doing interviews. I can fill 30 gigs pretty fast with just a GoPro.

I watched a bit of the WDW live steam and the quality looked like it was coming from security cameras.

My raw files folder just of photos and my camcorder work is alone 500gb.

It was coming from a hefty broadcast level camera.

I'm getting my streams mixed up. There was a stream a few weeks back, before the 24 hour event, that I'm remembering. It was for Disneyland's debut of new nighttime entertainment. The stream was insanely grainy and over exposed on several camera angles.

That stream was the night before the 24 hour event and was grainy due to so many people watching that it could not handle it so had to lower the quality.

which is kinda funny in the end.. because the quality was so degraded.. makes you wonder.."why do it?"

My bet is the reasoning behind doing this at all was to tease us, but Disney has not yet figured out how to broadcast live via the web in high definition.

In my opinion, a company that specializes in video should have this figured out by now... it's silly along the same lines of having a pavilion suitably named and purposed to promote their own brand, and letting it limp along as a joke (referring to JII).

The camera that appears in that image that we shared looks to be a Canon XL-H1.

It's all about the encoding and the bitrate. Disney was broadcasting at Youtube's recommended but rate of 2500 Kbps (2.5mbps). The max bitrate that Youtube does allow for 720p@30 is 4000 Kbps (4mbps). It also depends how youtube encodes the video aswell (Which for those at home keeping score is H.264, L4.1, CBR with CABAC). As wikipedia notes "CABAC is notable for providing much better compression than most other entropy encoding algorithms used in video encoding, and it is one of the key elements that provides the H.264/AVC encoding scheme with better compression capability than its predecessors." But also notes it uses more processing power. Level 4.1 has higher hardware compatibility.

not to mention the CMOS on that camera is set for proper lighting conditions, not low light - which will be grainy anyway

Excellent job!

Worth watching even if just for the giggles watching lines form and disappear for meet and greets, parades wiggling along and the mass exodus as it starts to rain :)
