Magic Kingdom Ice Cream Parlor Open Today

when I peeked in through the window last week, it looked as though it was just getting a thorough painting and general refresh. From what I could see (through the crack), it looked brand new inside. The layout is pretty efficient so I didn't expect any changes there. I thought they might "plus" up the theming a bit. Did the OP notice any decor that looked new?

I did not notice any decor changes, but honestly don't remember exactly what it looked like before. It must be pretty similar in colors. But glad to have ice cream the last day of our trip!

Yeah, I know this is going to sound like a bash (and I guess it is), but I just don't understand why it takes Disney so long with these touch up projects. I think it's GREAT that they do this and make sure to keep things looking new, but honestly, how long did this one take, 2-3 months? I've said it before, most restaurant chains when they open a new location build from scratch and open in less time than it takes Disney to do some painting and touch-up work.

It's weird.

I was thinking about a solution to this problem. If they had a second ice cream shop with an identical menu they could always have one of them open. And the crowds indicate to me the MK has enough demand at this shop that it could support a second. Ice Cream is often an impulse decision and therefore it will be popular wherever they put it. I would recommend the Diamond Horeshoe space. Perhaps with an occasional entertainment offering.

And the Hot Cocoa is a brilliant add if it is as good as it sounds. Seems like they are slowly adding some great menu choices such as the new waffle sandwiches.

The new waffle sandwiches, at least the ones with meat, are about 3 shades of gross.

Do not want...again.

Given the crowds this place ALWAYS has, not a bad idea.

I'm still curious as to why it takes Disney so much longer to do work like this than other places?

I'm literally in line at the ice cream shop, the hot chocolate is a no go. The cast member looked quite perplexed when I asked for it haha sad day! Maybe it's just not here yet?

Well thats awkward.... I hope it gets sorted out soon. I could use some hot chocolate right now.

There were WDI reps and electricians (ERMCO) looking over plans in the shop today. Couldn't see what specifically they were looking at.
