Magic Kingdom Closing at 7pm on May 31st and no Fireworks?

Got a call from Disney today and they said they can't honor my reservation for dessert at the Tomorrowland Terrace on May 31st because the park is closing at 7pm and the fireworks are cancelled. Has anyone heard that? Why would they close MK that early?
Then I tried to see if I could change to the other night we have at MK and they said they would "share that information with their partners and I would get a call soon".

What in the world is going on?

Glad they didn't do this on the 30th. We got BoG reservations at 7:15.

I am glad to say that Disney re-scheduled my reservation to the other night I'm at MK, May 25th. Which may work out as I'll be able to have good viewing spot during a busy day.

Speaking of which, they told me that my time is at 6:20 but that's only a check in where I will get a voucher or a bracelet that will let me in when the actual dessert party starts an hour before the nighttime show starts.
Is that accurate?

They cancelled my daughter's BOG reservation for the 31st too, she was quite ticked as it was the only night she could get.

Yes. At 6:20 you can get your bracelet and come back later. Most people don't bother to check in at all until an hour before Wishes.

They were adamant that I needed to go there because they use that to know how many people to expect and that are really there.

I'm glad our BOG reservation is on the 25th and not on the 31st...I was relieved!
