Magic Kingdom Christmas Tree to be in place Dec 6

Have you seen them both in person?

1) Disneyland's tree isn't illuminated in LED lights until after the fireworks. So for most of the night, it's not lit like that.

2) It may photograph like a "ball of lights," but in person, it certainly doesn't look like one.

Disneyland's tree is elegant and modern-looking. Many trees at Walt Disney World are similarly beautiful (the resort trees come to mind), so it's surprising to me that the Magic Kingdom's looks so dated.

I was going to say it may the way it is subjected in the photo that I perceived that way but I did not want you to view it as an attack on your photo. I for one hate LED lighting on trees, houses, etc as it is not my style. The only place LEDs have a purpose to me is for camping, spelunking, or a flashlight.

On the note of LED post pyrotechnics what is it illuminated with prior to pyrotechnics?

The tree has 60,000 LED lights on inner branches (and 1,200 strobes) and 4,800 C-9 lights.

Most of the night, it looks like this: http://www.disneytouristblog.com/disneyland-christmas-tree-photos/

That is proper lighting and not over the top brightness. Those LEDs make the park appear as if Clark Griswold was turned loose on the tree and killed any resplendence it could possibly manifest.

Disneyland's tree, which is displayed from the start of Disneyland's NO-UPCHARGE Christmas season until the conclusion of Disneyland's NO-UPCHARGE Christmas season, absolutely trounces the Magic Kingdom's Christmas tree. The LED lighting that is illuminated during the three-Act Wintertime Enchantment is icing on the cake.

To be fair, Magic Kingdom's Christmas parade and fireworks are more spectacular, but "it's a small world" holiday and Haunted Mansion Holiday make the rest of Magic Kingdom's offerings pale in comparison. Especially given that one of the two up-charges $60 for much less.

Great pics as usual Tom.

The DL tree looks so much better by comparison. I still have never made it out to DL at Christmas time, and really need to go!

I forget, what is the reason we celebrate Christmas? I don't think it is about whoses is bigger.

So you're suggesting we shouldn't compare the trees at Walt Disney World and Disneyland, bastions of commercialism that celebrate Christmas largely because of its marketing power, because of the Christian tradition of a holiday?

I can't really speak for JLEVIS, but he may just be pointing out that at some level, the "whose is best" discussion can seem like we lose perspective on how much we have anyway. Sure, it's valid for us Disnyphiles to critique things, sometimes ad nauseum; but I can also recognize the value of perspective. Even though they make money on it (and lots of it), there is still inspiration to be found at WDW.

By the way, I would love for them to run the DISNEYLAND "Candlelight Processional" half hour special that they used to run every year on The Disney Channel. I haven't seen that in years, but it was wonderful. It took place on Main Street, USA, in front of the train station, and was gorgeous. Anyone else remember that?

(Probably had to move the Christmas tree for it...) ;-)

Anyhow, does anyone know if DL still does the Candlelight Processional at all. After all, the program started there.

^Disneyland's Candlelight Processional was this weekend. Gary Sinese was the narrator. Dateline Disneyland has excellent photos.

Where can we find them, and do you remember the TV special that I am referring to? I seem to remember at least a few times seeing them run it on Christmas Eve, like at 11:30 p.m. It was a half hour long.

Don't know what year it was actually recorded.

Compare away but keep in mind that encourages the commercialism; my tree is bigger than yours; the light display at my house is bigger than yours, my store will open before yours, etc. certainly not in keeping with the Christian tradition of the holiday.

Everything about this website encourages commercialism. We are fans obsessed with a very expensive vacation destination. It doesn't get any more commercial than that.
