Now that we have more details about what things will be like when Magic Keys will go on sale, the state of the parks, the fate of Fastpass, etc... Who's in? Who's out? Who's waiting?

I think the parks will eventually get back to nuts, so I'm going to buy the cheap pass fairly early before everyone jumps on and it gets crowded. I'm fairly burned out with the place, but I have to go at least once after a year off. $399 is not far off from $199 for a parkhopper.

Concerns: I'm not too concerned about the Reservation process or the Genie+ thing. What I am concerned with is if they bring back the outdoor mask mandate. With that said, Summer is ending and I wore one of those blue medical masks at work the other day that felt like you didn't even have a mask on. Air coming in and out with ease. Makes you wonder how on earth they work but that's neither here nor there. Due to my spontaneous trip last week I have 3 days to choose if I want to upgrade to magic keys for my family as I do not want to waste the chance to use the $690 I spent as down payments. I guess If Im undecided I can upgrade to the Imagine keys in the next few days and then just upgrade to a better key at a later date.

I'm looking at the different Keys and oddly enough I could talk myself into the most expensive Dream key and I could talk myself into the cheapest Imagine key. The middle two keys starting making less sense the more you think about them... for me at least.

IMAGINE - I'd be completely fine with Imagine and going 6x a year or so on weekdays. The only issue is for every single trip my wife would need to use a PTO day which would limit us from going on other trips and vacations. Can one just tell corporate "Im cool just not getting paid for a week" and take time off without pay? I forgot how that works.

ENCHANT - The value seems good until you realize every weekend day that you can go will most likely be packed as 3 out of 4 of the passes can go.

BELIEVE - Seems like the sweet spot but I worry how many people may feel the same way. Also, its priced close enough to DREAM to make you start doing the math on parking. Even though it would take 36 visits (much more than I would be going) to = the $450 price difference between the two passes if you factor in the convenience of no blackout dates, extra discounts and ability to be there on what will most likely be the least busy weekends it might be worth the extra money. About 1/2 of the Saturdays are blocked out of the year with BELIEVE and if enough people choose BELIEVE they will be very busy Saturdays.

I’m with @Rich T. I checked out in 2019. This is not to say that I’ll never, ever go again, but I have zero plans of going anytime soon (I don’t even want to go next year, 2023, and beyond). The constant price gouging while offering nothing to justify price increases (Avengers Campus is the latest pathetic effort to come from the company) puts me way off. I refuse to give them my money to visit the parks in their current state. Not to mention, going to Disneyland in the middle of a pandemic is just a big **** no for me.

There are undoubtedly still some good things the parks have going for themselves, but they’re not enough for me to purchase a day ticket, let alone a pass.

Are they California resident tickets? I don't think those are upgradeable.

The mask thing is a big deal. Even if you're in favor of masks in general, it's definitely a detriment to the experience. The mask enforcement cast members also seem to have gone into a mode of pre-scolding guests about masks before they even get near indoor entrances.

I'm be watching to see how things go over the next few weeks. I'm not very optimistic about Disney or the state, but it would be nice to be surprised in a good way for once. Saw the news report earlier about the guy caught with hundreds of recall ballots and reality set in pretty hard.

No I bought the regular 2 park - 1 park per day pass. Not the So Cal deal.

I’m not optimistic about Disney at all or the direction the parks are going in. Or how political/ politically correct they are getting. But my wife wants a Key, my son has a blast there and the value is still definitely there when you consider it as entertainment throughout the whole year. I can spend 1k to take my family to a Laker game.

And course there is still a lot to love about the place. Mostly the old stuff

It really comes down to this. Overall it's still a great time- it just doesn't connect with me the same way while I'm there. It's like my mind won't allow me to enjoy it in the same way I did before the shutdown.

But, the attractions are all still tons of fun. The Plaza Inn fried chicken is great. It's still a far more engaging experience then a day at Universal.

Sure, you have to groan a bit when you float past Sparrow and the new Auction scene, but the bones of the ride are still some of the best ever done. Sure, Splash's days are numbered, the water levels are all kinds of messed up, and half the lights don't work- but dang is it a great ride. Same with Space and Big Thunder.

It feels sort of like a corpse of its pre-shutdown self. The bones are still there, but it doesn't feel alive the way it used to. You don't have moments like waiting in line for Alice in Wonderland and seeing the Magic Happens parade go by. Stormtroopers aren't coming up to my daughter to ask for orders. The interactions and things that come to you instead of staying behind a barrier. I hope all that stuff comes back...

And the freaking trams!

Definitely still much to love about DL. We just have to try not to stare at the Home Depot Frontierland gate and the big blue Dumbo wall for too long.

One thing I don’t like about APs is that it kind of boxes you in to going a certain amount of times depending on the tier. I kind of like the thought of the Imagine Key that puts zero pressure on you to get your Monies worth.

I voted "Maybe Later".

It helps that I spend July thru September down in La Jolla and generally check out from the Disneyland scene, but Covid and all the weird changes to Disneyland operation of the last year hasn't helped much. I'm not sure constant access to Disneyland is for me any longer.

I'm happy to wait a bit. I need more real details and hard facts. I'll let the YouTubers froth at the mouth over all this while I sip a late summer sparkler.

Ask me again in October.

Wait and see is the smart approach. Disney knows this. That's why they have a 66 day window to get some magic key swag. Gotta create that FOMO to get people to buy in now.

Don’t disagree with the sentiment but lately when it comes to DL it seems the people that take the leap of faith reap the rewards.

Couple examples off the top of my head.

-Getting a flex pass when they came out in 2019 for $600 with no blackout dates and having pretty much zero issues getting reservations. Some people were hesitant to buy Flex because of the reservations.

- people who went to DL the first couple weeks in May and enjoyed a blissfully empty park and avoided the crowds, operational issues and mobile ordering madness that was around the corner.

We’re getting ours this weekend, we go for a 3 day weekend every month or two, for people like us who go a couple dozen days a year it’s still a great deal. We usually book our hotel weeks ahead of time anyway so having to reserve parks early isn’t a big deal for us.

I'm going to wait and see what happens. At the moment I'm more disillusioned with the Disney company than I've ever been. Admittedly I will probably visit the park for a single day sometime between now and the end of the year (haven't been since February 2020), but right now I just feel deeply uninterested in giving my money to this corporation. I really can't see myself enjoying monthly visits like I used to. I do hope things change.

I don't know why it bothers me so much, but the fact that the trams aren't running just thoroughly repulses me, haha. Maybe it's a 'straw that broke the camel's back' situation, but man, I have real reservations about supporting a company that cares so little about the guest experience.

I felt the same way and to an extent still feel the same way. It’s easy to get disillusioned dwelling on all the negative things we ve been reading and direction they re going. Then you spontaneously go the park and realize many of those things don’t impact your actual visit. Maybe it’s just the fact that wait times were lower than they have pretty much been in this millenium when I went last week but that’s how I feel at the moment. Now if they bring back MSEP and remove “Ladies and Gentlemen” from the intro I might spiral again.
