Magic hours worth it or not?

I agree..Soaring and TT still always had long waits during EMH night. Love MK EMH at night...especially during summer.

The trick to Soar'n is to time it so your the last group to ride it. Normally you can get another ride when it ends when the CMs run it again for themselves... just ask them as people are leaving.

MK extra night hours are great because it gives you plenty of time to take a midday break and not lose much time.

AK early hours I like just because the earlier you get on the safari, the better your chances are to see the animals active.

Yeah I always wonder why they don't have some CM's hiding out near the animals zapping them with cattle prods to make sure all of us guest get a chance to see them... I mean come on it cost a lot to get into AK the least they could do is force those animals out in the open so we could see them.

Our typical schedule is get up early, take a break in the afternoon, and then come back in the evening. EMH makes it work for us. It also takes away our manic need to do things during normal hours, like Toy Story Mania, Soarin, Test Track, etc. With EMH, you can squeeze in the e-tickets without blowing your FastPass+ choices or standing in line for an hour.

Imagine how awful the waits would be for the big attractions if people like me weren't satisfying our e-ticket fixes during EMHs. EMH allows us to relax during the busiest times, getting us out of the lines for the e-ticket rides, or even getting us out of the parks altogether to allow the "amateurs" to have freer rein.

Only half-way.

Having made the unfortunate decision to stay at he AKL in the heat of the summer once actually made me wish they did use cattle prods on the animals.... You pay a pretty steep premium for a hotel where you are led to believe you will be close to the wildlife, only to realize that was all marketing hype. The reality of a week long stay was to see the animals only for the briefest of moment when they were either running out of their barn toward the unknown place somewhere well beyond where you could see them or a similarly brief moment when they returned at night... The CM explained there was some cool spot somewhere beyond our line of sight that they would go to when it was hot out... In Florida in the summer I think that is pretty much anytime you have daylight... So yes I was actually wishing someone would drive those guy back where the paying customers were.

Yeah, it's too bad animal behavior doesn't comport with the tourist desire to see them. Truly, I sympathize with spending thousands to go and stay somewhere, and then the main reason you're there is squelched because the animals just aren't there. Short of a cattle prod, of course, would be cooling spots within sight of the Animal Kingdom Lodge guests. I'm sure you would agree. Right out there in clear sight they should put some cooled rocks, perhaps a water thing to cool off, or whatever. Here they invest in some amazing animals, and they stay hidden from us. Bummer. That's one reason we travel in winter, because they're far more active in the cooler weather.

I have an album of pictures somewhere, where the only pictures in it are pictures of attraction wait time signs all at the 5 minute mark (including some of the more popular rides!). These were all taken at the same time during evening EMH! I think it was about 1:00am, and it was awesome! Of course, we actually went on those rides too, which made EMH totally worth it!

Morning EMH are great for getting the big rides in before the crowds show up. We've had a lot of luck at AK with the morning EMH.
Evening EMH can be a bit busier, but some of my favorite moments have been late at night in the MK. There's a different feeling to the parks late at night.

If Disney gets rid of evening EMH that just may be the thing that makes me vacation elsewhere. I am a night person and I love the extra hours.

It really depends on your preferences. As anyone will tell you, each park has a completely different feel depending on what time of day it is. Personally I'd never skip AM EMH at MK. There's something about the park waking up, and coming to life. You can feel the magic building as the EMH start to turn into operating hours. It's truly wonderful.

And PM EMH are always gorgeous. As everyone has previously stated, Epcot and MK are wonderful to be in past closing. However, personally I'd skip HS. For some reason when the crowds die down there, I feel a bit uncomfortable. It's kind of too ghost townish for me. Especially with completely abandoned areas like Streets of America. HS is one park that I always prefer crowds in.

I can't function at WDW without midday breaks. We are always up for rope drop or morning EMH and always arriving back to the resort way past midnight. If it weren't for the 2 hour nap we take during the afternoon I'd be one tired girl!

For the DWF and I it's a little different. We love to get up in the AM walk through the resort and do a nice breakfast. The mornings start for us around 8:00 AM and Breakfast around 08:30 AM. We love to be in the parks late at night and just love all the lights and buzz that goes on at night. We find the extra hours at night to be the best, because most families with little ones are gone to bed and we get that look at all the room and no wait lines for the most part in September. We (I) am not a early morning person on vacation. I have to get up early evey work day and want to sleep in to 7:30/8:00 AM when on vacation.

Now that my kids are older, we only go to MK during the EMH at night. All the strollers and small children are gone. We ride everything we want during this time. Most rides are walk on after 11:00 p.m.

My group of 5 friends were able to ride more rides during Extra Magic Hours (in the PM) than we were when the park was open to general attendence. It's SUCH a great feeling seeing a mass exodus of people leaving the park just as you're entering it for the night.

Whatever you do, don't skip extra magic hours at night!
