"magic happens" campaign

just read the l.a. times story in the disney news section about how the company is rolling out new licensed products and launching a new marketing campaign.

the tagline for the campaign is just horrible, un-disney, distasteful, unimaginative and juvenile (in the worst sense of the word): "magic happens."

i think most of us recognize what that's a take-off on. and it's highly inappropriate for a kid-centric company.

can't they do better than rip off bumper stickers? they must be absolute morons to think this tagline works for disney. disgraceful!

Dopey lighten up a bit, you a correct most of us realize what Magic Happens is a take off on but I would guess the majority does not, besides, it is all in how you interpret the slogan. I think it is kinda funny (and true).

Wow, I never heard anything about this campaign. Did it just die on the vine?

Maybe Disney re-thought the idea? Anyone know.

I know this is an old thread but I couldn't find anymore info on this !

WOW-This is an old thread but the Magic Happens project did happen. And the commercials were AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!.There were about 3 different commercials and it wasnt business unit specific I.E. theme parks, movies, etc. It was a general overall Disney Company campaign and ended with the screen all black with white letters that said MAGIC HAPPENS.

Thanks for the info. I just do not remember this ad campaign and couldn't find anything on it on Google.

The three I remember were

a-Walt Disney as a little boy sleeping in his bed while his parents looked in his room happy because they saw some of his early drawings
b-a little boy puts his stuffed animals in his dads suitcase before his trip so he wouldnt be lonlely
c-a guy proposes to his gf at some nice cafe

 Old topic. At first I thought they were bringing this tagline back. I remember thinking those commercials were pretty cool, but I can't remember specifics. If I remember right, they were generic Disney commercials in that they weren't advertising any specific part of the company but were just about the fact that "magic happens". It was around the same time they were putting all of the celebs that were somehow involved with the Disney company in Mickey t-shirts for photo-ops....actually they still do this.

Oh yea, I remember all those now. The Walt Disney one was my favorite.

Talking about past Disney commercials that could be perceived as a little racy for Disney...does anyone remember that Disney Cruise Line commercial where there was a little girl in an elevator with her mom. The little girl was telling the other people in the elevator all about what they did on the ship and then it ended with the little girl saying something along the lines of "this is my baby brother...mom and dad call him a little souvenier". The mom got real flushed in the face and said something along the lines of "yea, we all had a good time". I thought that was a really funny and cute commercial too .
