Hi Everyone,
We planned on using Magical Express for our trip in 2 1/2 weeks. I just saw on another website that it's hours are from 5am- 1pm. Is that true? We already have our Magical Express luggage tags but our flight is pretty late. We leave JFK around 7:15pm and arrive more than 3 hours later.
TIA

Jaclyn

You'll be fine. On our last trip our flight was delayed about 2 hours, so we didn't get into MCO til after 1 am, and there were ME busses running then.
Have a magical trip!

I have no idea where they came up with those hours. If you land in MCO, there will be buses available.

They might be referring to departures using the resort check-in and baggage check, but I think they're open from 0630-1400 and there's a minimum amount of time you have to check in in advance.

DOn't know where the incorrect information came from, but you will not have any problem with DME no matter what time you arrive -- even at two a.m. if your flight arrives late, there will be a van to get you to your resort instead of the bus,

The only set hours are the 5 am to 1 pm resort check-in for your return trip to the airport -- you can check in your luggage and get your boarding pass and you are good to go -- otherwise, you just take your luggage with you on the bus and check in the regular way at the airport.

To confirm and clarify...

Disney's Magical Express - free transportation from the Orlando International Airport (MCO) to your Disney Resort and back regardless of airline - operates 24 hours a day as needed.

Disney Resort Airline Check-In Desk - allows Guests on participating airlines to check their luggage and receive their airline boarding pass at their Walt Disney World Resort. This desk is operated seven days a week, 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. If Guests cannot check-in during these operating hours, they will need to check in directly with their airline upon arrival at the Orlando International Airport.

So you land in Orlando what do you do you pick up you bags first and is there a counter for the bus?

Going back I am Canadian flying Air Canada so I assume there is not resort check in for my bags. So do you wait for a bus with your bags a few hours before your flight leaves?

Flying Air Canada you'll clear U.S. Customs & Immigration prior to departure. So you can use Disney's Magical Express tags and your luggage will be retrieved for you and delivered to your resort room [if you so desire]. A lot of people have been very happy with the service [myself included], but if you're arriving at MCO later at night and you need your bags before you go to bed, it is suggested by some that you don't tags your bags and get them from baggage claim yourself before checking in with DME. You can put the bags under the bus you take and thus have your bags with you when you get to your room. Alternatively, you can tag your bags using the DME tags and leave instructions with the Bell Captain at your resort not to deliver them until morning.

Make sure you reserve DME before you go, they won't take you without a reservation.

EDIT: Sorry, forgot this... No, you can't use resort check-in. It is only available on Domestic flights of participating airlines.

How do you reserve?

It is not automatic?

I did give them my flight information online but my vouchers do not have flight information.

Ah maybe I should just cave in and rent a car :goodnevil

Unless you're planning non-Disney side-trips, I wouldn't waste the money on a rental. Disney Transport and DME are free and both quite efficient IMHO.

If you have DME vouchers, then you've already reserved. If you're not sure, you can call to confirm at Disney's Magical Express Guest Services at (866) 599-0951.

Sounds good to me. If I decide to stay all Disney I will give them a try.

My flight to MCO arrives 9AM so I will tag up my bags and let them bring them to my room arrive 3:00 PM.

Cave in? Why? Why waste money if you're just looking for transportation to and from the airport and your resort!

DME has served almost 4 million passengers so far. I can't believe all of them are smarter than you, that they can figure it out and you can't.

DME isn't automatic. If you don't have a reservation, you can't catch a ride -- walk-ups aren't allowed, as per the contract with the airport.

If your trip is 60 days away or less, call DME directly at 866-599-0951. If your trip is more than 60 days away, call the regular Disney CRO number and make your DME reservations that way. The database used by DME CMs does not include any information on guests more than 60 days out. But CRO has access to everything.

The system really couldn't be simpler. Get a reservation. Receive materials in the mail. Slap a DME luggage tag on each bag you will check. Check them in at your home airport like normal. After you land at MCO, skip baggage claim and go directly to the DME Welcome Center (everyone on every airline can do this). Check in, then get in the correct bus queue as assigned. Board your bus. Driver will load your carry-ons under the bus if you wish, but you may take them on the bus with you if they're small enough to fit under your own seat or on the overhead shelf. Get dropped off at your resort.

People who for whatever reason didn't receive their DME luggage tags can STILL use the automatic luggage delivery perk. They still skip baggage claim. At the DME Welcome Center, the CM asks everyone if they put DME tags on their checked bags. When you say "No," you'll be asked for your baggage claim ticket number(s), as well as a physical description of each bag, as identified using a photo array. They will dispatch a CM to go to the baggage claim carousel, claim your bags for you, then take them back behind the scenes and put them with the rest of the DME luggage.

Early in the morning on the day before you leave, you'll get DME info hanging on your doorknob. This will inlcude your assigned DME bus pick-up time. People flying one of the "participating airlines" can also use a separate service called Resort Airline Check-in, where they can check in their luggage and receive boarding passes right there in the lobby of their WDW resort. People not flying one of those participating airlines still get the bus ride, but they have the driver load their bags under the bus, and then they get them back once they pull up to MCO. They then check in with their airline just like any other time you'd go to an airport.

Hi Monty

Sorry to revive this thread but I have a DME question for a Canadian.

If I am flying Northwest, with a change of planes in Minneapolis, would I be considered domestic or international with respect to returning home and using the resort check in service?

Thanks, and have a GREAT trip!

S.

The way it was explained to me, they will not check your luggage through to Canada if you use Resort Check-in. If Northwest is a partner airline, they might check your bags for the domestic leg, which would get you the benefits of Resort Check-in and then you'd have to claim your bags in Minneapolis and re-check them to Winterpeg. I honestly don't know if they'll allow you to do so or not. My only suggestion is ask at the Resort Check-in counter during your stay and see what they say.

I suppose it would also depend on how long your layover in Minneapolis is...

Once again, much thanks. I think we'll just cab it back to MCO so we can get a little extra sleep! Take care, and have fun!
