Magic Bands - no more "scout" fast pass retrievers?

Are you 100% positive about this? I have heard that FP+ is still opt in or opt out. You don't have to take it, for now, regardless of having RFID.

No, not 100% sure. But a band does not fit in the old fast pass machines and they are not going to retrofit the old machines with an RFID reader if they are just going to be getting rid of them all in the near future. So if you opt out, no band. You may still get some other RFID media that fits in the fast pass machines but not a band.

In the past as soon as we got thru the turnstiles I would collect my wife's and kids' tickets and zoom ahead of them to get the fast passes. Especially at DHS you'd often see individuals with stacks of tickets getting fast passes.

Now with the magic bands are we not going to be able to do this? Do the bands come off easily so one person can get fast passes for a group? (That might be a bad thing if they came off easily! I hold on to my kids' tickets all day so they don't lose them!)

How will this work? Will it be that everyone getting a fast pass will have to be at the fast pass post to get a fast pass?

That sort of thing is precisely what FP+ and MagicBands are going to eliminate. You will not longer be able to get a FP by "running to the attraction" once FP+ is fully implemented.

The statement from Disney was that if you opt in for FP+, you don't get FPs in the park, too. You have your appointments and that's that.

Personally, I'd rather do it the way we do now. And not just because I don't want to wear a band, though I really don't want to do that, either.

I think you misunderstood me. I mean that the FP+ can be taken or left at this point. You don't have to take it right now. You can still use either FP+ or FP. Yes, I do know that once you "activate" the FP+ perk (and I use that term very loosely) it negates you using regular FP.

Uhh yeah..... I figured we wouldn't be able to put a big bulky bracelet into a machine for a FP. o_O I meant that I would like to know if I can have the bracelet and still be able to use the old FP. Would they still give us a KttW card for old FP as well as a bracelet?

From what I have read the band will only work with FP+ you can't have both. You either do Magic Bands with FP+ or KTTW with regular FP at least as long as regular FP lasts.

Well that sucks. I love the wristband idea, but I completely hate this "package deal" Fast Pass garbage.

The other thing to keep in mind is if you had a band and a KTTW card, you would essentially have two active tickets, I would think they would have problems allowing that.

How odd....!! I haven't really looked into any of this, so there will either be lines at FP stations or at a Kiosk? Where are the kiosks going to be located? (All over the park like ATMs or a designated area for all of them in one spot).

Or be connected with your phone (which many guests try and get away from).

Yeah I know. I was just kind of hoping they could set the key to the world card up as a non park entry item but I guess that would take a lot of extra programming.
