Magic bands - help please!

Hi there, can I ask if anyone else is having trouble customising their magic bands? When I try to edit my magic band selection via the App and/or the website I get a “wreck-it-Ralph” message saying:

We Dont Want to Wreck Your Fun
Unfortunately, the page youre looking for is unavailable. Please check the URL.

I’m in the U.K. and I do have some time before my “upgrades” need to be finalised but it’s been about 2-weeks now so I’m starting to get worried.

Thanks

Thanks. Yes, I intend to get my daughter an upgraded magic band. The ‘upgrades’ available to resort guests change regularly, which is why I’ve started to look at this early (I’ve got about 80 days until my ‘order’ needs to be finalised.so, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the issues with the webpage gets resolved soon. Thanks.

I was going to ask whether you’ve tried on the website as well as the app? I think there are certain things that the website is more reliable for, and this is one of them.

Yes, I’ve tried both but to be honest the app actually directs you to the website 🤣

I’ve also tried to switch off my location services on the app and just in general but still no success. Seems that i’ll just need to be patient. Although i’ve Just checked, I’ve just got over 50 days to resolve 🤞

Thanks for the suggestion though 🙂

No I am not failing to understand anything. I know how Disney works very well. I have been with Disney for over 20 years.

@smaccount wants to choose his family’s magic bands and pay the additional fee for a special one. This is what US guests can currently do, but international guests are finding the system is broken. We were able to a few months ago, but cannot do so now.

Your advice was that he has to buy it at DS or a park. He may well have to if the MDE system doesn’t get fixed but he shouldn’t have to.

That was his point, and ours.

This isn’t intended, WDW have confirmed that in response to email and phone calls.

Meanwhile @smaccount, I suggest you call them on the free phone number. I have read accounts of Disney being able to sort it out over the phone for people. Hope they can for you.

Thanks so much, I’ve dropped them an email but I’ll maybe follow it up with a phone call. I know the upgrades often include Figment, which my daughter has loved since she was 6 - she’s nearly 20 now so if possible, we’d love to get one for her!

Apologies to everyone that my question has created so many issues!

If you purchase a magic band from the Disney shops website or even one off of eBay or Amazon(do they have those?? They have everything else lol) you can link that to your account...cant you? I'm just asking out of curiosity. Im interested in the fact that Disney won't ship to the UK. There are so many internal guests...that stinks!

The Disney online shop won’t ship them to us either. I assume it’s something to do with mailing an RFID chipped item outside of the US, maybe there are rules about it. 🤷‍♀️

That stinks! I'm sorry. I mean if you are really wanting them can you mail them to someone in the US and have them ship them to you?

It’s no big issue waiting until check-in to pick the bands up. We can’t use them at home, although I have tried once or twice when I’ve just gotten home (half asleep) from a trip 🤣

Just thought I’d give an update that might be useful. A tech savvy guy I work with suggested using www.hide.me (and installing their app) which you can get free to hide your location. You get 500MB for 2-weeks use on a free trial, that you can continue to renew indefinitely, or so it says)

I’ve managed to use this App, selecting my location as East Coast USA, and get into the US version of My Disney Experience and the ‘order your magic bands’.

There aren’t too many upgrade options on offer right now, so I haven’t ordered anything but I’ll keep checking.

My only one minor concern (that I’d likely sort out by phone after I’ve found Magic Bands that I want), is that I now seem to have 2 separate my Disney experience accounts but obviously only want one set of magic bands, ADR’s and fast passes!

Nothing is straightforward!
