Magic band vs Cell Phone

Hi there… advice needed, please.

I know that magic bands are not offered for free anymore. That’s fine, but I am looking to get a plain colored one for my 4 year old that doesn’t have an “old” one to use like the rest of the family. The only ones on shopdisney.com are $30+ and I’m not interested in paying that much. I just wanted a plain one…
Anyway, I called guest services to inquire about this and bc we’re staying at Swan the $5 plain bands are not offered to us at all… again., this is fine….
So…. My question is this…
Can I just use my cell phone to get into the parks for her? Does anyone have any experience with this at all? I’m worried we’re going to have issues on the first day.
All help is, as always, greatly appreciated!
Thanks 😉

With the my Disney experience app and an iPhone (and I think Android) you just link her profile to yours on the app and then add the ticket to the profile and then you can use your phone to act as a ticket. Sounds much more complicated than it really is. Works great on the Apple ecosystem. Also with her age and the fact there's no fastpass anymore, no need to have a magic band for her anyway.

A HUGE THANK YOU!
Soooo, when I get to the gate, instead of using our magic bands, I just open my app and something will scan it for entry?

If you have a physical ticket for her, that will also work at tap points anywhere a MagicBand would.

And if the ticket was only ever electronic, Guest Services can provide a card that can be linked to her profile.

yes, or with some devices like an iphone or apple watch, you don't even have to open anything, you just hold your device up to the tapstile.
