Magic Band Reuse Question

Since the Magic Bands were introduced, over the years, we have collected about 10 Magic Bands. Now that they are charging for them, we are looking to reuse the existing Magic Bands from our last trip in November 2019. We are planning a small trip to visit during the 50th, and in MDE, under Magic Bands it says: "All your MagicBands and cards can be used interchangeably as long as they're active." It then lists the 10 magic bands, with a separate ID and all of them labeled as "Active". Does that mean that I can take any of the active Magic Bands for use with hotel and theme park entry? Or, do I need to specifically select one? If I select Link, it goes through the process of adding a new band, so are these already linked in MDE, and can I expect them to work when I visit in a few months? Or do I need to go through the link process again and enter the ID off the existing band?

If they already show up as active in MDE, you can use any of them for room and park entry, no extra linking required. They will also work for charging to the room as well. If they are more than 2 years old, they may not work for the on-ride photos and videos.

They're already linked, you don't need to do anything. You could use one on Monday, a different one on Tuesday, etc.

But your batteries are probably dead so you won't be able to use the long-range features.

Long range features mean on-ride photos and personalized screens on Small World, RnRC queue, etc.

As the previous post said any function that relies on the internal battery may not work if the internal battery died. But like the previous post said, all the usual functionality will work.

Thank you for answering the question. I understand only the near field communication will work, and from what I understand, should always work.

Yes, the passive RFID works forever. Only the ride photo or screen mentions of your name while on rides won’t work. If you’re using a smart phone with the MDE app, it will interact with rides through Bluetooth if you activate that (there are Q-codes you can use to activate the Bluetooth), whether your MB battery is still good or not.
