Thatch... that would be interesting. It would definitley help solidify the forest theming. But they'd really have to do a lot of theming to the exisitng metal support structure to make it look like wood (unless they are just replacing it all).

We can hope!

How cool would it be if they created a truss system similar to the Chinese olympic stadium "bird nest"?

That would look organic and fit the forest setting perfectly if the spans looked like intertwined branches. The current roof looks generic and cheap considering where it is located. It should go IMO.

The Disneyland Paris Teacups roof does not belong in WDW with the new theming of FL. It would horribly out of place. The thatch roof would be a nice addition or keep it the same.

i hope they do more than just the roof... they brakes on that ride sounded absolutally awful when we last went... although love the teacups <3

it makes me wonder though, everything that is being shut at the moment for refurbs, at what point do people start complaining that they are not getting their moneys worth. they are renovating a lot of stuff at the moment.

Thatched roofs in England were used on cottages and smaller structures. Thatch would look great, and certainly play right into the Alice in Wonderland theme, but they'd need to redo the support structure so it looks more like a cottage for the thatch to make sense.

The control booth at Disneyland's tea cup ride is themed to a small cottage that matches the adjacent Mad Hatter hat shop.

You can bet your sweet bippy that people are complaining now. There could be NOTHING closed and somebody will find something to complain about.

I haven't gotten too many complaints when I'm over at the teacups. Mostly people just say "oh, darn" and ask what's open. Most of them cheer up when I tell them that Pooh is open, because it looks closed. I was the greeter at (the closed) Small World for five hours one day, and it was the same deal.
