There have been numerous suggesting that certain Mission:Space centrifuges must spin faster than others.

And there have been numerous reports from "insiders" who say that all four centrifuges are running at INDENTICAL speed.

Regardless of what's happening TECHNICALLY inside M:S, one thing is very clear--- RED FEELS THE STRONGEST, YELLOW (and Green?) FEELS THE WEAKEST.

It's NOT psychological-- too many people have reported it.

Maybe the ride is running EXACTLY as it should, with all four centrifuges spinning at EXACTLY the same speed.

But there IS a difference (could the tilt of the capsule produce a stronger/weaker sensation? Just a guess.)

If Disney truly wants all riders to have an identical experience (and avoid guests begging for a particular fuge, jamming up the queue area) they need to correct the "sensation" differences- no matter what's causing it.

I promise I'm not into conspiracy theories. But I truly believe Disney has intentionally altered the sensations on the 4 centrifuges-- if only for the near future.

IF Disney management is truly concerned that M:S might generate an unusual number of "sickness" complaints, the bean counters are going to want some HARD STATISTICS (remember, this is the same company that records turnstyle numbers EVERY hour, EVERY day, on EVERY attraction to quantify the ridership. Corporate people LOVE NUMBERS. Careers live and die by them.)

If... over a long period of time... 75% of people who complain of illness report riding on fuge Blue, 23% on fuge Red, and 1% on Yellow and Green--- Disney management is going to want to know that, and adjust the ride accordingly.

Then again, maybe the fuges ARE the same. And maybe the "sickness" level is spit 25% each way.

The biggest problem in terms of people feeling sick is the spin-up and spin-down section of the ride cycle. Since the centrifuge has to begin motion at some stage, there will always be this degree of disorientation, no matter how slow or fast the centrifuge ultimately rotates. So decreasing the RPMs is unlikely to have much of an effect on those people.

I know you will be sick of hearing this, but I have been constantly reassured that there is no intention of toning down anything. Infact, the system is so complex that it is very difficult to do such a change. The ride profiles have been set in stone for some time now, and any changes would incur delays in opening as testing is redone with the new profiles.

No Offense Doc... and I haven't ridden M:S yet, but just because a lot of people report something doesn't mean it's not psychological. Some of it could be self-fulfilling prophesies where someone read on here (or other board) that Red feels stronger, and low and behold, they think it feels more intense too. A lot of people have also reported the Loch Ness Monster, Big Foot, and Elivs....

But then again, I'll tell you my thoughts when I get back in 3 weeks.

Just the like the effects of hypersleep and the black lights, the fuges might have not been turned up all the way yet since they are just in the preview phase. They will probably do that during the final tests and evaluation right before August 15th and the huge party on Oct 9th.

IMHO, of course. :animwink:

The GForces have been set in stone for a long time now. This was neccesary for all of the safety/software/hardware/system testing that has been ongoing. Infact, WDI established the GForce levels before the building in Epcot was even built. Therefore the Gs that have been experienced during the first days of guest testing remain the Gs that are being experienced today, and will remain that way into official opening.

I have been on both green and red...and I've said this before...I went back to back on green and then on red and they were both the same at that point in time.

However, the next day I rode green and it was even more intense than red and green the previous day....

The differences lie in the people not in the centrifuges...I also think the place you sit in the pod affects the type of ride you are going to get...however I also think the biggest factor is the physical condition of the rider at the time of riding M:S.

>>Just my opinion though<<:hammer:

I rode the attraction 10 times in various centrifuges and there simply was no noticeable difference at any time whatsoever. There may very well be extremely subtle differences in the mechanical responses in individual simulators but, in the final analysis, the average person will neither sense it nor give a hill of beans about it. The difference one feels on the body may solely depend on how full of crap the person is entering the simulator.

This is beginning to sound like the same old argument about which side of Space Mountain is faster and jerkier.:D

(pssst!!....dont tell them that! If they wait in line for red all the time, the rest of us will get on yellow or green right away!)

j/k :D

Bah, that's not an argument... Everyone knows it's the left side! :drevil:

I was talking with one of my science teacher, and mentioned the ride. He was excited about the ride(He's those kind of teachers which are really cool!!), and I told him that some centrifuges go faster than others, and he said that was alright, and and that happens to technical things, especially with centrifuges.( I don't remember what he said of technical stuff; it was 2 days ago...)

They dont though ;)
All the same speed, or the ride system will not allow the cycle to continue.
