Lunch at Food and Wine Festival?

Just show up at 11:00 at World Showcase and start walking, eating, drinking and enjoying! It's the best grazing experience ever!! Be sure to check out the menus ahead of time so you can put together an attack plan. And take a couple of days (at least) to enjoy all of the great food and wine! You definitely won't need to eat at a restaurant for sure!

And be on the lookout for a new plan this fall -- a prepaid card that you can use while you graze and imbibe and it just deducts the credits from your prepaid card -- by the way, many of the foodstands open BEFORE 11:00, though that is the official time. All of them are open during lunch. Alternately, all the restaurants and quick service eateries in World Showcase are also open for lunch, just like always. And just as a heads up DO START at 11:00, do not wait until later, especially on busy days and any Friday, Saturday, or SUnday -- F&WF is now THE most popular special event at WDW -- it is MOBBED by noon

Like others said, the booths are up and running at lunchtime. :)

How will this be different than current prepaid cards?

We usually buy an Epcot gift card every year before entering WS to use on food, cocktails and merchandise. (It really helps me keep track of what I'm spending) Also, if you're on the Dining Plan, you can use your snack credits for just about all of the offerings at the kiosks (minus alcoholic drinks) That is lunch by itself!! But, yes, I agree with @RonAnnArbor by noon its packed!!!

The new plan is supposed to include pre-paid numbers of meals and numbers of drinks...so, for example, for 50 bucks you will get 5 main food credits and 2 drinks.....I don't think its set in stone yet, but I had a personal interview about what I thought of various options and it seemed like the 5 food/2 drink one was the one they were really pushing. That's different from the current setup.

OP - The kiosks start serving food as soon as they open. There may be periods of time while they are waiting for more food to come from the prep kitchens, but they serve from open til close.

It is different, and if those are the prices they use, it sounds like it's a losing situation for a guest. Most of the food items are under $6 (so a total of $30) and most of the wine tastes are under $4. Even if they choose to include the 12oz beer at $6.75, or the frozen drinks at ~$8, WDW still makes a ton of profit on those prices.

I can see them not wanting to push more than 2 drinks (everything in moderation) but switching to a credit model just seems to me like it would cause the kiosks to shift the same way that the normal dining has. Standardizing across the board or cutting quality or using different less expensive ingredients to meet certain profits.

@dreamfinder -- yes, I agree....and that was my opinion when they asked me -- I told them it's easier for me to just get a 50.00 gift card and use it throughout and get whatever I want...or just pay cash as I go, or charge it to my KTTK card...but I am sure they want to standardize it to make more money for less actual goods like the dining plans....
