Lunar Eclipse
There are rare occasions as the Moon revolves around the Earth and the Earth revolves around the Sun that an alignment will occur. Sometimes these rare alignments produce solar eclipses, while other times they produce lunar eclipses. On the night of May 15-16th (Thursday) we will have the pleasure of viewing a total lunar eclipse. On this night, the full moon will pass directly through the northern part of the Earth's shadow. Due to the fact that the Earth's atmosphere bends the light from the Sun, the moon will appear a reddish orange as it is hit with this refracted light. The moon will be in total eclipse for approximately 50 minutes.
For those on the east coast of the United States: the partial eclipse will begin at 10:03pm, while the total eclipse will begin at 11:14pm. Total eclipse will end at about 12:06am and the partial eclipse will end at 1:17am. (All times are eastern standard time)
Unfortunately i don't have times for elsewhere around the globe. Please check your local news sources or Astonomy.com for additional information.
So, get out there and enjoy.
May you have good viewing and clear skies
