It's a shame Disney "Spectaculars" are now just movie and sound clips from their sundry IP hacked together as a demo reel. No real story (contrived one big happy world stuff not withstanding), very unoriginal music, and nothing to inspire. I guess its just an attempt to sell more of their off the shelf merch, you know, the same stuff you can get at your local target.

I definitely agree with you. The Epcot shows from long ago were an anomaly compared to almost any other nighttime spectacular.

I guess the real question is, was an IP mandate for Epcot shows necessary? Or could the park support a show like Illuminations in 2025, given current guest expectations?

I actually really like Luminous for what it's worth BUT when this show gets replaced whatever comes after it needs to have the same staying power as Illuminations. I KNOW they can come up with something.

Imagine a show with Luminous quality fireworks, the technological ambition of Harmonious, and the storytelling and soundtrack quality of Reflections of Earth

That type of ambition was way over done and didn't work, so don't want to see that again, but certainly agree with all the above sentiment as a whole. The next one def needs better staying power infused with those points. I'm just not sure they could ever achieve something like IllumiNations again. Would love to see that happen though.

It wasn't over done it just wasn't well thought out. It was ambitious in the same way that ROE was technologically ambitious for its time. When i say the ambition of harmonious, I mean I want them to TRY and INVEST. Hopefully that ambition is just more well thought out next time.
