Has anyone requested luggage transfer between resorts? I am transfering from Pop Century to WL. Is it fairly timely? Any good comments..or suggestions?
I have never done that. But I understand that it is relatively pain free (as long as you understand that your luggage may not be on the same schedule that you are and may arrive later than you do). You may want to do a search since I think this topic has been discussed a couple of time in the last few months.
We just did it last week. It was convenient not to tote the luggage ourselves, but I wouldn't say timely. We left the luggage at 9:00 am and didn't get it until 3:00 pm. We weren't as prepared as we should have been. Our fault for that.
I had my luggage transfered from the Pop Century Resort to the Villas at the Wilderness Lodge and it was great. Just get up in the morning and bring your bags to the valet. Go to the parks for the day and in the afternoon go back to your new hotel and they should be there. My bags came by 2pm, which I thought was really good because my room was ready. It is inconvinient, however, if you want to go swimming in the middle of the day or change your clothes or something like that. But other than that, I highly recommend it.
We did the luggage transfer once when going from AllStar sports to GF, and it was a life saver! We took our bags to the luggage stand and it was delivered to the GF (and to our room) later in the day. As far as the time factor- I just thought of it being like check-in times at WDW... you might get it early, but just plan on it being there mid-afternoon (say, 3-ish). If that interferes with any afternoon plans, like swimming, just throw your swimsuit in a backpack. You can always get a locker at the parks for the backpack if you don't want to lug it around for a few hours.
