Luggage Tags

Hey guys. Can anyone tell me how soon the Magical Express luggage tags usually get sent out? From what I understand, they are sent separately from the Magic bands, but I can't find any information as to when that would be. Thanks!

Thanks! I ordered a yellow band and my boyfriend ordered red, which means his will come with Minnie and mine will come with a Mickey tag. Suffice it to say, we will be switching. This is my first time staying on Disney property; what did the old ones look like?

They were pretty basic. Just a band with a color and mouse ears on it.
I haven't looked at the new ones yet though, I picked up a Figment one the moment it became available, lol.

The website says 42 days out is when you usually get them.

I would double check your tags though, nothing against the magical express.. we have always had great service from them until this trip coming up.

Since we use Southwest, we are allowed two bags. They wouldn't give us two tags, and we had no issues getting two tags a person before.
They would also leave tags out, and we would be missing people.

It took us 5 calls over all to get a set of tags with everyone in our party in there. I had to ask for a supervisor on the 5th call.

Again, we never had this issue before until this trip... so it's really quite saddening.
I'm 39 days out and haven't gotten them yet. However, I used a travel agent and maybe they have them.

This is what the email will say. I've removed personal information from this one but you should get a tracking number and a link to use.

OK thanks. but haven't I should have gotten my luggage tags by now?

39 days out probably not. I would check with your travel agent as mine handled all of our arrival and departure information. I didn't receive my DME luggage tags or the normal luggage tags till 2 weeks before and they were shipped from our agent. Since they are shipping the tags with MagicBands this might have changed since I traveled in July. I didn't receive our magic bands till we were under 30 days from our check in date.

It has changed. I think if your arrival date is as of September or later, the tags are placed in the same box as the Magic Bands.

If you log on to the Disney website, and go the customize my bands section, there will be a countdown on the right hand side of how many days you have left to make your choice. After that date, they ship them.

No, they will be in the bottom of the box that your magic bands come in. The bands are shipped out 30 days prior to arrival.

Thanks for the pictures!

NO NO NO NO!

Those pictures are of the complimentary and completely useless luggage tags. Disney needs to stop with them, because they confuse things for magical express users. I would guess that many of the magical express luggage complaints come from using the wrong luggage tags.

The magical express tags that are being asked about by the OP are Yellow, and are large strips like the kind that the airlines use. They also contain personalized information (bar codes, etc) for tracking. The freebie ones that come with the magic bands are blank and are just for fun.

I'm not trying to be rude to the previous poster... this is evidence that Disney has created a confusing situation, simply because they get promotional money from a luggage company for it.

This entire thread seems to be all over the place. Back to the op's original question. If you don't receive your Yellow DME tags in 2 weeks or so contact your TA first and see if they have them. Then contact Disney if your TA hasn't received it.

Also these are the DME luggage tags.

In the past few years I've received the DME luggage tags from Disney with the packet that had info on DME as well as provided the discount coupons for the vacation package. This usually arrived between the 30 - 45 days before check-in. Although as I mentioned above this year was my first year using a Travel Agent and Disney gave them the DME luggage tags that were then shipped to me from the TA. I would call your TA and ask them specifically about the tags.

I found using a TA is completely different than going through Disney directly to book. I received all of my documentation from the TA. The only thing shipped directly from Disney was the MagicBands.

Unless I'm misunderstanding what the abbreviation "OP" means, that would be me, and what I was referring to was in fact the decorative character tags; not the long yellow strips. I received those, meaning the ones in your picture, in the mail. What I wanted to know was when were the decorative ones coming(which, I have now come to understand, are completely useless and are just there to look pretty). At the time that I asked this question, I didn't realize that Disney sends two tags, the yellow and the character ones). Thanks to you and everyone else for clearing up my confusion.

I had to reread the thread again. My mistake. I believe the decorative luggage tags are given to guests with a vacation package even if they don't use DME. The DME tags are like the ones in the picture I posted above. I guess I partially also answered graphite's question as well.

Correct. The decorative tags are for package reservations only. If you have a Room Only reservation you do not get them.
