Luggage Tags

I think I read somewhere that when you choose to take the Magical Express, they will send you special luggage tags to place on your bags I'm assuming to skip baggage claim and everything, so I'm curious. I booked my reservations last thursday, and I'm leaving Monday 30th, do you think I will recieve the luggage tags in the mail this week before I leave? If not, will there be a problem with having to wait for our baggage and all that?

I used Magical Express last June, and from what I have heard, the service has improved since then (even though it was perfect for me!) So with that said, I think there is a good chance the tags will reach you in time. If they dont, you have two basic options.

1. Retrieve your bags from baggage claim before heading to the Magical Express welcome center.

2. Go directly to the Magical Express welcome center and give them your baggage claim tickets you were given by your airline. Magical Express will be able to claim the bags for you.

Option 1 is probably the safest. Someone else will probably tell you more about option 2, because I recieved our luggage tags just before we left, so we were nervous about it too, but everything worked out great. Good Luck! I hope you get them before you leave.

I am also optimistic about you getting your tags, But RCoaster is correct if you dont. You can either pull your own luggage and bring it with you to DME and they will send it along with you in the Motorcoach or describe your bags and give a copy of your luggage tags and they will pull it for you. This might take little longer, but I did that in December and didnt have any unreasonable wait time for my bag at all. Belle

I booked my upcoming trip through a travel company. Magical Express is promised. But when I got my plane tickets, no luggage tags. I contacted the travel company and they told me that Disney's machine for printing luggage tags is not working well and that Disney is way behind printing tags. That it was likely I would not get my tags. So I should just get my own luggage and go to the magic express center.

Any truth to this? Or am I just getting snowed?

Well I can tell you I booked DME for my next trip. I booked the DME and the trip at the same time so I had all my flight info on hand when I booked it. I can tell you I got my DME tags WAY ahead of schedule. You are supposed to get the tags no LATER than 10 days prior to your departure!!!! I hate to cast aspersions on anyone's character here, but if I had to guess, I would say you are getting snowed. Not to be nosy, but when is your trip (Departure date only) ?? If it is more than 10 days away Id say call the travel agency and tell them to contact DME and get you those documents. Please remember they are working for you and are getting paid to do so!!! Seeing as I only booked my trip 9 days in advance, I shouldn't really expect to get the tags, should I?

That's ok though, I'd rather get them myself :-P
Id be very surprised if you did get them on time, but in either event it will work fine with you picking up your bags. Belle

It is exactly 10 days away. I leave Friday, Feb 3. I would have preferred booking it myself, but Magical Express is not available for most of the REASONABLE airlines that fly out of Philly. I like Southwest airlines, but could not get flights when I needed. No availablility. But this travel company, Southwest Vacations (the vacation face of Southwest Airlines, though seemingly a seperate company) amazingly had availibility on the Southwest flights I wanted. Plus, they offered Magical Express. So I thought I would try it even though it wasn't a real savings over booking myself.

I believe magical express is available for every airline, you just can't check in at your hotel desk ahead of time with every airline.

If I picked up my luggage at the baggage claim before I checked in with DME, would I be able to take my luggage with me once I get to my resort instead of waiting for it to be brought to my room?

I'm just curious because my friend and I are concerned about how long it will take for our luggage to get to our room.

Yes - you can pick up your bags and just carry them with you to the bus and place them under the bus for your trip to your resort. You will not be the only ones - at least half of the people from my experience do NOT use the magical express luggage service. It works just like any shuttle bus to an airport. The difference here is, if you opt to, they can deliver it for you. If you choose not to, you proceed as usual with your bags to the bus. WHen you get to your resort, the driver will open the luggage compartment, and you take your bags. Note: they DO have a printing que in which people who book within 10 days will get the tags printed immediately and avoid the printing backup. You should have them before you go, although sometimes that does not happen. The tags rarely arrive at the same time as your airplane tickets. If you have any concern at all about your bags, check them, pick them up like you always would, and take them with you. It is not that big a deal. It makes it much more convenient though for those people traveling with children who have a hard enough time keeping track of them on an exciting trip like this, let alone worrying about their baggage. Most adults can handle their own baggage.

I would seriously call and raise a bit of a fuss. There is no printing backup that I Am aware of and as I said I got my DME tags for my trip this Saturday WELL ahead of schedule almost 2 weeks out if I am remembering correctly!!! I also havent had problems with any of my client's paperwork. So I sincerely doubt that they are ONLY having trouble with your tags. There is the little fact that all of the DME Paperwork is shipped separately from your other travel documents so perhaps it was lost, or misplaced in the office of the people you booked it through. They should be able to contact DME for you and get you replacement tags and that is the end of that story. You can try calling 1866-599-0951 which is the number for DME but as your reservation was made through someone else, they technically have to call on your behalf. Belle

Thanks. I will give them a call right away. I kind of want the full exerience anyway. The company I work for sponsors a conference at Boardwalk every year the week after Easter and we have been encouraging our attendees to look into Magical Express. I would like to be able to relate a positive experience to anyone that is nervous about it.

I highly recommend Magical Express, I have always had a great experience with them and getting the full effect of showing up in your hotel room and having your luggage meet you there is amazing. One time the luggage even beat us to the room!!!!!! And that was with a room change to be near by our other friend's room!!!! Go figure!!!!!!! Pixie Dust is what I chalked it up to. Anyhow let me know how things turn out!!! Belle

Thanks for all of your help. I just called them back to "press" the issue. This representative was more helpful. She said our tags were "released" yesterday and sent two-day mail. So I should get them tomorrow.
