Luggage tags question....

HI, I joined this site some time back but I mostly lurk cause I'm shy! :( My DH and I are doing the Mediterranean Cruise on the Magic on June 8th! We recently changed our room and added ground transportation, however our cruise packet already came with our old room number luggage tags and without a ground transportation voucher. Is this DCL going to send the updated packet or should I request it?

Hi Tye. Don't be shy. :) In fact, you should be proud!! Our DCL Mediterranean cruise was the best vacation of my life. You're going to love it!

I wish I could answer your question, but I honestly don't know. I would guess that they would send you new documents and luggage tags, but that's just a guess. I would suggest calling DCL directly to ask, or have your travel agent double-check it.

Thank you! We are so excited!!!! We went on Disney Fantasy in October and because of Hurricane Sandy we got 25% of our next cruise and in addition to 10% percent we received for booking while on a cruise, it was a no brainer!! We can't wait! I'll guess I'll call DCL tomorrow and find out.

A Mediterranean cruise sounds like the pinnacle of awesome!

I don't really know the answer to your specific question, but I can tell you what happened to us. We upgraded to a different stateroom after our luggage had already been dropped off with the old room number on the tags and it magically made its way to our new room. So I am guessing even if you don't receive new tags that they will somehow figure it out.

Have a lovely time!

I actually thought that they might do that, as Disney=Magic! I noticed the tags have a bar code so I figured maybe that links to our reservation.

...and thank you!

I so want to go on that Mediterranean cruise! I hope you do a trip report. I would love to read about your trip. I'm considering doing it next year. Have a great time.

It's pretty darn close. And Disney made it amazing when we did it in '07. The music onboard, the characters' costumes for different ports, the food, the extra shows. I know I already said this, but it was hands-down the best vacation I've ever been on.

I did a trip report for this cruise, which I posted on another forum. But that forum went belly-up and I didn't have the foresight to save a copy of it. But I made a Google map of our trip, showing our ports and some pictures from excursions. If that might be interesting to you, you can find it here:

(Hmmmm, the map doesn't seem to be displaying when I click on the link. I'll try to figure it out.)

This was also true for us on our most recent cruise. We dropped our bags outside the Port Canaveral terminal, and then upgraded to a balcony stateroom when we got inside. Our bags came to us with no problem, and no delay, as far as I could tell. They used a very high-tech method for re-routing our bags: Somebody used a pen to cross out the old cabin number and wrote the new number on the luggage tag. :)

That's too bad that you lost your trip report I would love to read it. The link only took me to the home page of Google maps. I can't imagine how fun it would be to try one of the European cruises. I have been fortunate to travel to southern Italy and France several times. Most recently last October, just my kids and I went and stayed with my sister in law who lives just outside of Cannes. We each have two kids, all of them under age 10 and we took a road trip for a couple of nights. It was quite an adventure and we got to see a lot of France off the beaten path. But I remember thinking at the time how relaxing it would be to take all those kids on a cruise ship instead and not have to worry about where we were staying, eating, trying to find a parking space etc... *Sigh* someday!

And as for the luggage tags ours were also magically adjusted with a sharpie.

I've got a Med cruise trip report! It's a beast though.

Well you're very welcome! :)

I just read it while I made dinner...that looked like the best itinerary! And the characters outfits were so neat! Now I really want to go! I know my sister in law and I would have so much fun schlepping the kids through Europe on a cruise ship instead of us all cramming into her Touareg...Someday!

It was definitely my favorite cruise ever. So so much fun. I'll be back on a 12 nighter in 42 days!! :)

I saw some videos on YouTube and it looks great. I'm just so excited to go to Europe. I took Italian in school for 11 years so I can't wait to practice it. I looked at your updated link. It looks awesome! I really wish I could have read your trip report!
