Yesterday, I saw none. Today, a bunch.

They have yet to damage the paint on my car...and I don't even wash them off all the time. I will not wash my car every day, so I allow their small corpses to rot on the car. The paint hasn't suffered yet.

They don't bite. They don't do anything, really, except fly around, make little love bugs and (in the fall) remind us that the oppressive humidity of the Orlando summer will soon be behind us.

They do make me wiggy by climbing on my arm or leg, so I close the sunroof to keep them out. :)

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
My second ever trip to Florida was in the early fall.
Coming from Canada, I had never seen them before, so when this strange, seemingly two-headed bug landed on me, I majorly over reacted.
I jumped so high that my Vuarnet sunglasses flew off my face and skidded across the pavement.
$220 later for a new pair, I learned to chill. Sort of.

I know right! We always used to go in summer. So I had never heard about these insects. Then one day we went in fall and I was attacked by millions of huge insects. Two-headed monsters! A plague out of Revelations! I nearly got a heart attack!

Where I come from bugs are the size of dots in a newspaper. You need magnifying glasses. They also only have one head.

Any flooding in your area?
LOOOOOTS and lots around me, but thankfully, not at my house. Manitou and Ft Carson are taking the beating in my city right now (about 10-15 minutes from me)! Boulder/Estes/Lyons looks sooooo horrible though. My heart breaks for them. Theres about 80 people unaccounted for in Boulder right now, so we're just waiting to hear some kind of update and hoping they're ok! : (

Thanks for asking <3

we saw a lot up at Deleon Springs yesterday, and some at DTD last night. Not as bad as some years though, so far.

This was one of our worst years. We left disney and only got to the canoe creek rest stop before this happened, I still laugh when I think of the car wash guys face when we brought the car in.

How long do the love bugs last? I've never seen them in October that I have noticed.
I don't know. About a month, I guess. Some times are worse than others. This past Spring and last fall weren't bad at all. This fall looks like we might have more.

They aren't really that bad. The worst part is washing them off the car windows. They don't just come off with washer fluid, even the more expensive, bug-off kind. Their little splattered bodies are thick and sticky. For me, having to keep car windows/sunroofs closed is a bit of a drag.

But they'll be gone soon and the weather will turn and it'll be great. :)

i live in florida and don't wash my car everyday and haven't had a paint problem but added a bra to the front of my acura when i bought it in 05 because my mom's accord had the paint on the hood and mirrors ruined from them. i guess i've just been lucky. i do however take windex and paper towels in my car when i'm traveling more than just around town.
