We are going with a group of 25 to Disney World September 24 - October 1, 2005. Someone told me that the "Love Bugs" were absolutely horrible that time of year. I've never been at this time of year, can anyone comment on how bad the bugs are?

So what does that mean that they are bad? Are they everywhere, making it awful to swim in the pools? I have no idea what love bugs are like.

No problem swimming. They are a real problem for motorists on the interstate highways. The bugs get smashed on the grill, windshield (windscreen for Barnum:wave: ) and other parts of your car. On the Florida Turnpike, they have rest areas with special water hoses to help clean the Love Bugs off your car!

We go in September and they have never bothered me. We kinda look forward to them when we ride the boat from WL to MK. They don't hurt or bite.

September 2003 there was a freaking NEST of them at Jellyrolls at The Boardwalk. it was like a giant black cloud on the corner (we were staying at Dolphin and had to pass through this area often)

the biggest problem is that they don't really look (or care) where they're going (i mean, would you?) so they fly into you, your ears, your mouth, your hair, etc... really a pain the butt and irritating

They're not like normal scary bugs though.

No hard shell, nothing like cockroaches. Not typical "bug" gross.

They have really soft papery wings, the weigh so little they seem to literally float around, and they by no means "come after" you and they move really slowly. I think the best way to describe them is like a cross between a ladybug and butterfly in all black. Entirely harmless and not creepy crawly.
