Lost Child?

We were planning to make temporary tattoos that said, IF I AM LOST PLEASE CALL- (555)555-5555, for our children. Now I think we will take them to get henna tattoos with the same message. If we get separated our cell phone number will be on their arms. Of course we will tell them to look for a cast member right away and show them their tattoo if they get lost.

Interesting idea. At some stadiums now they do special wristbands that have the name of the child, parent's name, cell ph# and seats within the stadium. You could have something similar made up before you go with your name, cell ph# and maybe resort you'll be staying at or something along those lines. Something that has no chance of rubbing or washing off if you go on the water rides.

Edit: Or possibly go to an Army/Navy store and have them make dog tags for the kids.

Another great idea that was posted in another thread was, if you have a camara phone, take a pic of your child as you come into the park, and if they become separated, you have a pic to show the CM's and Security,so they know who to look for.

My wife and I took a trip to WDW in July of 03. On our first night there we went to MK to watch the parade and fireworks. As we were heading toward the entrance to leave, my wife asked to stop and go to the restroom. We were by CP, and as many of you know, the restrooms there are set back from the walkway. So I waited out at the walkway for her. While I was standing there watching the crowd walk by, I noticed a small boy, 6 or 7ish, he looked like he had a good day at MK with his little pirate hat and pistol, but the expression on his face was telling a different story. I stood there for at least 10 min and no one came for the boy, and his expression was looking more desperate while he continued to look around and wade through the flow of people heading to the exit.

I decided to say something to the boy, so I walked up to him and asked "Hey bud, are you lost?" Thats when the tears started. He muttered something about his mother, and since we were not far from the restroom I asked if she was in there, he did not know. A family walking by at the time overheard me talking to the boy as I was trying to calm him down and the mother of this family started asking him questions as well. Eventually she sent her husband to get a cast member, and in no time they were back.

I let the boy go with the cast member, who assured me that the boy would be ok and they would find his parents for him. At that same time my wife returned from the restroom and we walked on.

I always kinda felt bad that I just left the small boy, but I knew that the CM would help him. Unfortunately I don't know what happened to him, whether he was reunited or not (its probably a good bet he was) but not knowing for sure kinda naggs at you after a while.

i got lost many years ago in MGM, it was a very scarey experience.

can remember all sorts of thoughts going through my mind about never seeing my family again, having to live with another random family .. looking back, if i had got a family in Orlando it would have been awesome

very scarey at the time - the above ideas seem very good!!

All CM's are trained in dealing with lost parent instances and there 1st responsibility is to let a manager know or guest relations so the incident is paged out to the whole park. usually then the same CM stays with the child near to the area they lost their parents and after about 1/2 hour they then head to guest relations if they haven't been able to reunite the parents.

I do however think it would be a great idea for disney to offer contact wristbands for children to wear, its been done at some beaches over here in the UK and is really working, and will cut out alot of worry both on the child and parents behalf. They could maybe offer them at check in at the resorts and a ticket windows/ guest relations.

We always did what it says to do in the monorail spiel. If we ever got lost when we were kids we knew to go to City Hall.
