Looks like no MNSSHP Sinister Soiree for 2015

I just got off the phone with Disney, it was the events number you called for the Soiree last year. She said they've had a couple meetings and looks like no Soiree for 2015.

Take that like a grain of salt! Lol. CM's do not usually know info like that for certain. She could be right, but they may still have it or something like it and release it closer to Sep. I never listen to CM's because I have gotten wrong info before from them. Lol :)

True, but I trust Event CM "meetings" more than a Splash Mountain CM "I heard". Of course yes the brass could change their mind or even reshape the event between here and there if anything.

That is not the ones I got wrong info from! Have gotten wrong info from CM managers before. That's pretty bad so like I mentioned until they officially say they won't have it and such then I will believe it. She could be right but she could also be wrong. :)

They probably made the money off of it they wanted to last year. There were a lot of extra upcharge offerings last year. And just because it's not planned now, I seem to recall it being last minute last year but I could be wrong. Some of these things are probably last minute additions or decisions. I'm sure someone more 'in the know' can offer up what they've heard.

maybe I'm crazy (ok I know I am) but... why would someone pay for the time limited MNSSHP AND then spend most of that time (and also pay extra for) the Soiree?

You do not spend most of your time at the soiree. I took the second seating and we didn't finish until after the 12:00am official party end. It also saved time trying to find and then having to wait in a spot for the parade and fireworks.

Exactly. Disney went too far in their new strategy of charging for special events. It's one thing to charge for a "premium package" at the F&W Festival or SWW. Quite another where you're already paying extra to attend MNSSHP then have another event inside the party which costs more than MNSSHP itself.

It also became less of a value to regular party goers. As the regular offerings of the villains got moved to an up-charge event while the regular guest had nothing new added to replace what was lost.

My hunch is that it was nowhere near a money maker for Disney because quite a few guests scoffed at paying extra for it.

Most spots sold old pretty quickly, even though Disney restricted reservations to phone calls only.

Until the first party happens and there's no soiree (or equivalent) I have no reason to believe it was not financially successful.

The Frozen and Star Wars upcharge events came back this year at higher prices. I expect the same thing to happen with Sinister Soiree.

I think it will all come down to when they take the stage down for construction

Lady Tremaine's two friends at this event last year were both members of Actor's Equity, and as of this moment, no equity auditions for Lady Tremaine have occurred, nor do I see any scheduled. Take that as you will.

Well I spent those "extra Disney Dollars" and it was good for a one time experience. What did we get in exchange for spending $99 dollars a head more than the hard ticket entry price ?
  • A place in a cordoned off area to watch the first two stage shows 7:45 and 8:45, Boo to You parade at 8:15, Celebrate the Magic at 9:15, and Hallowishes at 9:30 at the front end of the Hub. Wonderful place, and my wife had a bench to sit on for that long duration and it wasn't stuffed full of people shoulder to shoulder.
  • A themed dessert sitting with live entertainment provided by Lady Tremaine, her daughters. Less than a hundred people per sitting. We had a private table for two in the center of the room.
  • Meet and greets with Lady Tremaine, The Queen of Hearts, Captain Hook, Frollo, Maleficent, Cruella, Facillier and the Evil Queen. Wonderful character actors all.
  • Hatbox Ghost special magic picture tossed in.
  • Autograph card from all the villians
  • Maleficent dragon cup
  • yet another bag of assorted candy
They all sold out fast and we fortunately got into one... even if it was the 11:45 seating... we were tired. We slept in and didn't hit the parks until lunch time the next day. Bloody Marys at the Dawa bar before Yak and Yeti.

We like to do different things at Disney as we visit once or twice a year during the cooler months, if you had heartburn at $99, I guess you'd never consider paying even more for something like Party of the Senses which was an additional $145-270 a person over the admission price to Epcot.

Maybe Lady Tremaine's two friends are being replaced by Canadian Lumberjacks.

Sounds neat... but I personally still wouldn't pay (on top of my existing park tickets/annual passes) to attend a special event and then pay again (more than twice as much) for a special event inside the special event.... that's just me though. Obviously Disney knows what they are doing because people pay for it

True but did they hold any last year? A lot of times roles like this are filled internally with people already in entertainment so a general casting notice probably won't go out. They never held auditions for Hades and Meg for the Villians events but we all know they were Equity. Auditions can be a helpful tip off sometimes, but WDW tends to do a lot of things internally with the cast members they already have.

Both of her friends last year were already entertainment cast members (one was from Nemo, I forget where the other lady works) and there were auditions, but I'm not sure if it was posted externally in Backstage or just internally.
