I am trying to put together a chart that shows the Theoretical Hourly Capacity of the Magic Kingdom over the years. Obviously this would be unofficial estimates with low accuracy, but I think it would be interesting.
I have done a decent amount of digging, but I'm starting to hit a wall. I would be appreciative to anyone that would like to assist. There are a few things in particular that would be helpful:
Methodology
Attractions
For the most part, I am only including rides and shows. I am specifically excluding meet and greets along with streetmosphere as they are extremely variable and can be added or subtracted with minimal investment from WDW. Likewise, parades and fireworks are also excluded due to the inherent difficulty in determining capacity. I am also excluding the Main St. Vehicles due to inconsistent operation making comparison over time futile. In addition, I am excluding the Diamond Horseshoe Revue because it was primarily a show within a restaurant. While not to the same scale, the principle is the same in excluding Cosmic Ray's live entertainment as well as Sonny.
Theoretical Hourly Capacity
This is an estimate of a best-case scenario for an attraction. This means no empty seats, no breakdowns, no slow downs for guest assistance, etc. It is unlikely that attractions meet this capacity frequently (if ever). Determination of this number varies depending on the type of attraction and the method used will be noted for each attraction. Examples include: Using guests per vehicle and vehicles loaded per second for omnimovers. Load/Unload time plus show length for continuous shows. If you feel that any of the methods used are faulty, please explain why and provide a suggestion for improvement.
Operating Timeframe
There have been some attractions that operated seasonally from time to time as well as some that had soft openings. I am not going into that level of detail and am only using the hard open and close dates.
