Thanks for the link! I love seeing plans for the future that, either, came and (quite possibly went) or never came to be.

Thanks for posting the links, pretty cool. The one photo is actually in one of my EPCOT books. I sure miss the old EPCOT, I would really like to see it that way just one more time now that I am old enough to appreciate it more.

My thoughts exactly. If I could enjoy it when I was 11 and barely had any English, imagine now when I can totally understand the storylines!

Unfortunately, we gotta make the Thrill Gods happy...

It's page 64 of a WDW 1984 souvenir guide. The last paragraph deals with coming attractions at Epcot. It only took them 19 years to get the Space pavilion open. :animwink:

A Space Pavillion was originaly planed for E.P.C.O.T when the final designed phase started in 1979, and was to be located in the same plot as M:S is today. Remember, that when E.P.C.O.T opened in 84 the plot was vacant and listed as furture space pavillion for that site on the blue prints. However the technology wasn't available until recently to make M:S what it is today so that is why it took 15 years to come to full concept and 19 years to open. the Imagineeres were ahead of the technology in the early 80s as well as having a change of management in the interm

Also don't forget that Walt and the Imagineeres had to invent some of the early technology for DL and WDW, since it didn't exist, What did exist were manufactures of Carosels ,Ferris wheels, and woden Rollercoasters,Etc, now most of the technology and ride systems can be bought "off the shelf" from existing amusment manufactures

Yes, thank you for the link! It is so strange to look at the pictures of Disney Village and see trees in the background where PI and DTD Westside would eventually be!

That brings back memories. I remember when Buena Vista Blvd used to dead end into a stand of Pine trees just west of the old Lake Buena Vista shopping Village,It ended where the second to last entrance to what is now DTD is, just before you pass the new casting center if you drive west. As a kid I was always wondering what was planned for the then forest between LBV and World drive, I got my answer in 82 when they started removing the trees. This was before PI was built and even before they built the Empress Lilly
