My job hunt isn't going so well...I'm really trying to move up to the area but so far it's a no-go. Does anyone know of any job openings in the area? I'm qualified to teach @ the college level in English (my M.A. and B.A. are both in the field), and I also have experience with tons of other stuff---acting, singing, journalism, writing, etc. As far as salary goes, I figure I need to make around $2,000 a month, after taxes, to pay rent & cover expenses.

ANY help is greatly appreciated =)

Detroit is a possibility. If you wanna teach and make some cash, detroit public school system is usually strapped for teachers. If your really good you can go out to Bloomfield Hills and Dearborn, and teach there and make some decent bank.

 Not to be mean... but thats what I was thinking as well... Move here to Chicago... The job market is really picking up again here.

What they pay down there in FL is/was the ONLY thing that kept me from moving down there 2-3 years ago. :(

I'm making close to 2k a month.... after doing the math, and factoring in cost of living... it's like making $2700 in Chicago, $3000 in LA, and $4500 in NYC

2K a month in Orlando is easy...just not in teaching (although I think there is a shortage of teachers in the area)

Keep in mind that FL does not have state income tax, which accounts for 4-5% of your income in many states.
