The issue with analyzing pizza is that everyone has their own version of “good” pizza. What I think is amazing here in NJ is completely different than a person who lives in Idaho. I personally like the old saying, pizza is like ______, when it’s good it’s good and when it’s bad it’s still all right.
Soooo, that being said Via Napoli was not meant to be your traditional Domino’s, Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, etc., etc., and if those are your favorite pizzas than you will probably not like Via Napoli. Via Napoli is meant to resemble pizza from Naples. Which does not resemble anything like USA pizza chains? And yes, I have had pizza in Naples.
The most common complaints I see about Via Napoli is that the pizza was “burnt” and that there was not enough cheese/toppings. Which is mostly true, however, that is the way it is supposed to be made. Wood fired ovens will do that to a pizza. The pizza toppings are spread out to enjoy the flavors and textures as opposed to piled on like some meat lovers disaster from a pizza chain.
Now to annoy everyone not from the Northeast, from reading a lot of comments on Via Napoli my non-scientific analysis is that those from the NE tend to enjoy Via Napoli pizza more than those not from that region. That isn’t to say that others don’t like it but that is how I read into it.
In my opinion, Via Napoli pizza is good above average pizza for anywhere (for that style) and amazing for Disney pizza.
