"Look Inside Banksy’s Creepy Disney-Inspired Amusement Park"

A theme park that mocks the artificially sweet, superficial nature of theme parks? As a cynical and sarcastic Disney fan (to be accurate, mostly just EPCOT Center), I love seeing a sardonic counterpoint like this. I say good job sir.

Next up: An ocean-based "land park" where orca handlers keep humans in tiny pens for their entire lives, feeding them only enough to coax their performance in live shows! Then, watch their befuddled reaction when said humans turn out to be inexplicably insane!

I want to see a land where Deer and Bear are given weapons to hunt down Humans in the name of heard thinning, its for their own good.

Is everyone reading off of the same wikipage? If I hear one more person say Bansky is a brilliant artist and social commentator.......
Nope, just to respond, I did not get my info or my opinions from any wiki anything. It's MY very own opinion, although I did use a quote from Oscar Wilde that I found appropriate. It matters not to me whether you enjoy Banksy's art or not. Art is and always was personal. Just don't accuse me of ripping off my opinion from someone else... Thank you.

I wish I were in the UK so I could visit this installation in person. Banksy is a brilliant artist and societal commentator in an era where they are in short supply. The Disney-inspired work is only one component - there are over fifty artists represented apart from Banksy. The scale of the project is remarkable as an art event.
I think my favorite piece that I have seen thus far is the Princess Diana-echoing Cinderella coach crash. The concept is incredible and the execution breathtaking.View attachment 107301

I thought the same thing- I gasped when I made the Diana connection. In particular, I would really like to see this one in person, to see details.

Some people know and appreciate his art...why is that so unimaginable to you?

Yes
Banksy's "economic and social justice" graffiti and now full sized installations don't resonate with me. Contrarians who are financed by the very system they are "protesting against" are in fact just part of the system.

I saw it the other day online, and it didn't do much for me. Nothing about it seems overly creative, it's kind of just in your face (actually, it also reminds me of something along the lines of what Tim Burton would do). Whereas the pictures referred to at the beginning of the thread about the overgrown/abandoned WDW were solemn and almost peaceful (in a weird sort of way), what was created by Banksy (who I just don't see the huge appeal of anyway) seems like fairly standard ideas (i.e. consumerism = bad, and themes like that). I almost get the same feeling I had when watching Burton's Alice in Wonderland, and that is it feels restrained, as if it could have been pushed further into "madness" (for lack of a better word), but instead is just kind of there.

Well, that's just my two cents. Obviously if people like it that's awesome and I don't intend to say they're wrong, but for me, this isn't anything overly exciting.

Very good point, which is why, even though I wasn't alive at the time, I always find it funny how 60s artists were against big corporations and all that sort of stuff, yet Bob Dylan and Joan Baez (just as examples) were signed by the big corporations, bringing in the big money.

"Art is the most intense mode of individualism that the world has known." Oscar Wilde...
I might add, there is always controversy surrounding great art. It sparks a conversation. Banksy has an incredible imagination and is enormously talented. Whether you enjoy his art is in individual taste. But you cannot deny he has an amazing talent!
Yes, I can.
