I just feel like Disney is much bigger in a retrospect. That's all.

It is, but that's pretty obvious to everyone.

However, the room to attendance ration is still higher at Disney even after this latest edition.
Universal can easily add more rooms, and IIRC their plans call for them to-do so. I doubt they will have any problem filling them when they are offering far better standards and prices then Disney whilst continuing to add new attractions at pace.

So the new water park is the blue circled area, and Sapphire Springs is the red circled area correct?

Looks blah from the outside but we just spent the weekend in a Loews property for the first time (attended my cousin's wedding-on property Fri-Sunday), and the outside was nothing. Inside was beautiful from lobby to the rooms - service was of highest quality (dare so say better than Disney?). We felt pampered.

I'm sure the inside of this and he service will be impeccable.

The only "Bad" part of staying there was that a boy band (from Disney Channel?) stayed on our floor. Jake & Jake? Or, Jack & Jack? Girls as young as 12 CAMPED overnight in the lobby with no parents to be seen. As we left the wedding at 1:00 am and headed to the elevators, a girl came up with a $20 and asked my husband and I if she could pay us to "be her prarents" and ride the elevator up to our floor. Um, NO?! They had security guarding the elevators and even outside of the wedding because these kids wee trying to sneak into service area stairwells. Unreal.

For the price, the rpr is is vastly superior to wdw. And the perks of staying at universal exceed those of stating at wdw. I can't wait to see this new hotel.

So 5 hotels for just two parks....

WDW of old, had Contemporary, Polynesian, Ft Wilderness, the Golf Resort/Disney Inn, The Village Resort (later Disney Institute) for two parks and a water park. Although, Universal's properties have significantly more rooms. And technically, Caribbean Beach and Grand Floridian came online before Disney-MGM studios opened, making the room count more comparable.

WDW's third park brought the massive explosion with Swan, Dolphin, Yacht, Beach, Port Orleans, Dixie Landings, Wilderness Lodge, Old Key West, All Star Sports and Music. Quite a huge expansion given the size of the third park

So if you believe WDW was underdeveloped, hotel wise back in the day, 5 hotels for 2 parks...seems appropriate, not amazing to me.

Exactly.

imho, more people are choosing to peel off a day or three to do Uni as part of their Florida trips. And, with their resort options expanding, it just makes sense to stay at Uni (and the proximity and other benefits involved) rather than rent a car or take a taxi.

I doubt this is hurting WDW all that much, but if WDW would take a more friendly stance to Uni (as Disneyland does to Knotts Berry and Uni Hollywood) and arranged transit (even if not free, but deeply discounted) from their resorts to Uni, I suspect they'd see a net benefit with more people deciding to crash at the Disney resorts for the whole trip and just travel to Uni as they normally would, rather than doing a split stay.

But, I won't hold my breath.
