Trip Report Loco_Driving through the night - Live!

It’s finally time for another TR from yours truly! I will be reporting live from WDW for the week!

Those of you who know me already know the cast for this one. It’s just the two of us. Myself and my much better half, the lovely Mrs. Loco. Here we are at Walt’s tiny castle last fall!

We will be leaving this evening and driving overnight. Much like @brifraz , I ain’t scared of a little all night driving!

I have the day off today, but the wife wasn’t so lucky. So I’ve been spending the day loading up the trusty RAV4(shoutout to @amjt660 )!

It’s a good thing I didn’t prepare at all for our trip until today, now I have something to do!

Anyways I gotta go finish packing things up, stay tuned for more updates! I can’t wait to find out what I forgot to pack!

We’ve arrived at the beehive. Much like the king of beavers, the queen bee prides herself on clean restrooms and friendly faces(although they did come at a higher price)!

Soon we will turn south towards our second home!

Aww shucks. We just got back yesterday.

Love driving thru the night to WDW.
Light traffic most of the drive(from Chicago) and we get thru Nashville and Atlanta with ease.
It‘s the only time I drink Mountain Dew!

Safe travels!!! I tried to convince the husband to buy a RAV4 since his old Prius was such a fantastic gas saving car but I couldn't convince him this time.

The RAV is a great car, and I got pretty good mileage coming down(averaged right above 30 MPG). I got admit that I was wishing we’d taken our highlander toward hour 12 or so!

Overnight drive? Movin' Right Along? Buc-ee's? So far, this is shaping up to be the most excellent of trip reports!

Now I just need to work in some Sousa and Star Wars!

No Sousa! Believe it or not, this long time band director is not a fan at all. Back in college, one of my housemates made me a Sousa dartboard after we did an all Sousa concert.

Not horrible for a Saturday, but still fairly heavy. Wouldn’t be bad at all if it weren’t for the huge cheer groups.

DHS was a madhouse(surprise surprise). We hopped MPB in the sky to kill time.

And ended up at Epcot.

Closest I ever came to a tuba was when I got suckered into being the "band doctor" for my son's marching band and a female tuba player slipped in the grass and fell backwards onto her tuba and was stuck like a turtle on her back. We had to go rescue her (and check for broken bones)!
Was quite the sight.

Alright embarrassing story time. I played sousaphone in a small college marching band in Louisiana. One week we were invited to go do halftime and pre-game for a New Orleans Saints game. Our last formation for the pre-game was the fleur de lis. Somehow I ended up being the top of the fleur de lis, which required me to very quickly march backwards from the previous formation. Long story short, I ended up running over a piccolo player(who had been warned to look out for me already) during rehearsals one day and wound up on my back. It was quite the ordeal getting back up! Thankfully it didn’t happen during the actual performance in front of 75,000 fans!
