Hey WDW,
I am considering getting multi-day LL passes for around December 20th, and saw predictions that the price for MK could be up to $45. Why the price increase?

We are already seeing $45 next week. Christmas week will certainly be at $45, and possibly higher if they move to a new all-time max price (which is currently $45)

You can see upcoming pricing and stats at https://www.wdwmagic.com/genieprice.htm

It was better. But IMHO I liked it the most - when - if you wanted to ride something, you just got in line.
But what about when you could book 3 from the can at home and then drag your butt in at 11:00 as slowly as possible? You could blow outta studios by 2 back then with those bad boys…more time for a couple of naps and Mickey toons back in the deluxe villa 😎

I suppose it's particular to one's circumstances. Pre-FP we just skipped the rides with super long waits - and those were the best rides.

It's true that if you don't have a problem standing in lines or you visit frequently enough LLMP probably is unnecessary.

Formulate the battle plan from the throne and then conquer the park before most people finished their overpriced Mickey waffle.

Actually, we still got to the parks fairly early but would sometimes go to a water park in the morning without having to worry about a long line for FOP when we went to AK in the afternoon. And we didn't do toons in the deluxe villa but often took the boat from what is now Port Orleans Riverside to DS or French Quarter for shopping or entertainment.

We also kind of enjoy all the parks have to offer apart from the rides. We always do the jungle trails in AK and take time for some of the shows in the parks. In my opinion it's better when you don't have to waste so much time standing in lines and can still get to your favorites.

It's not all about how many rides you can do - sometimes it's about what you can do instead of having to choose between other things you like to do and standing in lines all day.

Park traffic flowed more organically. You'd always get some rides at under 10 min. and a few at 45 to an hour. You also knew that rope drop, parade time, and before close would also give you some opportunities. But you didn't have "somwhere to be" at a set time. Which ruined the experience for a lot of us. Nothing says "vacation" like scheduling.

Now scheduling is the norm and everyone has "bought into it". It seems odd not to schedule a vacation. Technology is both a blessing and a curse. Overall though. I go with curse.

People do things differently, which is why there will always be disagreement.

We now have a large party that requires scheduling if we're going to get anything done so that part really doesn't bother us. We don't do rope drop or park close.

Even when it was only 2 of us I never felt that we didn't have sufficient flexibility with FP and ADRs. We never found WDW to be as easy as some people remember it and we definitely don't find it to be as difficult as some make it seem now.

The one thing everyone agrees on is that the place is getting too expensive.

I think for the vast majority of those that actually have seen the difference between schedule and unscheduled Disney parks…this sucks

It took the charm and feel out of it….EVEN on the mob days

And to our friends who actually like this…HOLLAH, OCD!!!🤣

Why does someone have to have OCD just to enjoy the parks differently?

Waiting 45 minutes in line for a ride - you get to talk to your kids. Talk to your wife (or significant other). Maybe plan for dinner. Maybe start talking about what you are doing tomorrow. In short. You are communicating.

I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve overheard this type of conversation

Dad: Honey, are you going to buy anything here? Make it quick we need to be across the park in 15 minutes.

Mom: Don’t know yet. I like it but not at this price.

Daughter: wow the check out line is long. You better make up your mind now.

Dad: (forcefully). That’s it we gotta go.

Mom: But I haven’t decided.

Daughter: Mom, we gotta go.

Mom: (irritated) fine

Son: I gotta go to the bathroom

Dad, Mom, and Daughter: C’mon. Can’t you hold it. We’re going to miss the window.

And that is how family memories are made.

I can’t speak to what you hear but that does sound like a miserable time! We certainly don’t do that and I can’t imagine why anyone would.

Families don’t have to wait in lines to talk to each other. In fact, we talk quite a bit wandering through the AK jungle trails, riding to and from the parks, walking around the resorts, going on boat rides, in our resort rooms or at the pool, at meals etc.

I can understand waiting in lines to save money but I don’t get the connection between standing in lines and talking to your family. You can talk to people wherever you are!

One other thing. I doubt the attitudes of the family you described would be improved by a long standby line.
