Living With The Land is now closed for rehab

As a former boat captain until my untimely termination, the morale among the workers was more than likely at an all time low. Keeping CMs in the area was extremely difficult. This rehab will be a good thing, it will kill about 10 or so neccessary CMs to man the boats. Now they will have one person do it from a "tower" position which will be located, to my knowledge, inside the ride, right before you enter the tropics greenhouse. Its sad that it has come to this. They would let anyone onto those boats to do a spiel regardless if you couldnt understand them. You used to have to audition for a spieling role such as this, or Jungle Cruise, GMR, or Kilamanjaro. But as you can see, cost cutting has led to this...

I guess that is one positive that had not crossed my mind in terms of who is doing the the spiel. We had a CM on Jungle Cruise once that had such a think accent that we could not understand her.

Doesn't sound like a "cost-cutting" issue. Sounds like pathetic CMs who didn't do a good job and since the market is so bad in Orlando, they couldn't replace the sub-standard ones. This moves seems to alleviate two issues... move the current CMs to another location where they are needed and reduce the overall need for workers who were not doing a good job in the first place.

Hopefully they will do a better job wherever they are moved.

I'm afraid that I'm not sure of this. I'll see if I can check on it.
I was wondering if you, or anyone for that matter, has found out whether The Garden Grill's view of "Living with the Land" will be blocked during the rides current rehab? If anyone can hook me up with that info..I'd greatly appreciate it!

I'm sure it already is blocked or will be if needed. If anything is closed, Disney never lets any possible viewpoint accessable to the public. Nestle's lunge will most likely remian opne to the ride, but the Garden Grill will probally have curtains put up to block the view.

The views from the Garden Grill are not currently blocked. I don't know whether or not they will be at any time, but the show scenes are currently visible from the restaraunt.

I'm happy that they're finally giving the CMs the boot. It never made sense to me why they had them there when there anyway. I'm interested to see how the rehab will turn out. :)

still off topic...how is the food at garden grill? thinking of doing this on our next trip.. or the one in june..lots of kids on that trip

I have had lunch and dinner there a few times. Every time was good and it is very peaceful. We love how it turns through the ride part.

I have this tour on my itinerary.. Should I make an advance ressie does it fill up fast? I guess I can answer my own question::D
better to be safe than not on the tour at all, and make the ressie now....
Most of our bookings are same-day, so there shouldn't be too much of a problem. However, if you want to be absolutely sure of getting a place, I would recommend pre-booking. We close the tours at 13 guests, and lately have been filling some tours to capacity. Behind the Seeds is offered every 45 minutes throughout the day, with the first tour departing at 10:30, and the last one at 4:30 (schedule subject to change). Tours last approximately 1 hour. The price is $12 for adults, $10 for children. A 15% discount is available for AAA members, DVC members, Walt Disney World Annual Passholders, Disney Visa Credit Cardholders, members of the military, and those who have dined at the Garden Grill earlier that day (must present receipt).
