I went to Epcot this afternoon and outside The Land was an A-frame sign saying "Living with the Land is Temporarily closed for refurbishment." Downstairs, the entrance to the attraction is just roped off but the unload side has the obligatory construction wall surrounding it. No word on its scheduled re-opening but I found it interesting that there was a wall on one side and not on the other.

Weird. It was open Saturday.

If I remember correctly, either Saturday or Sunday (more likely Saturday) was the last day. They are putting in an automated spiel to replace the Cast Members that use to ride with you. It will increase capacity I surprisingly great deal, which will bring the line size down. Also, I'm pretty sure that they are removing Fast Pass.

Get this! The disney website does not have this up. Can anyone get confirmation that during this rehab, they will be losing the tour guides?

Not to sound like a jerk or anything... but how often does Disney put the plans on what is happening during a rehab on it's website? Normally, it will just say Closed for Rehab.

So when is it scheduled to re-open? I'll be down there Saturday and I'd love to ride the new version to see how it is. How long should this take?

The Living with the Land boat ride is scheduled to be closed August 20th-September 16th, re-opening the 17th of September.

I can confirm that the rehab is to make the rumored changes from tour guide to automated spiel and I also understand that this rehab includes the removal of the Fastpass system from the attraction. (Shouldn't be needed anymore considering the number of boats they'll be able to run at all times without the need for Cast Members.)

I never liked that ride. The last time I was on it the CM wasn't very cleerful. Maybe this will make the ride more fun.

The ride is very bland. They are doing some pretty impressive stuff yet the presentation of it is such that the ride isn't very exciting.

I remember one time we had a cast member that sounded like Mr. Movie Fone, and because of the similiarity the ride was somewhat enjoyable. However, on the whole, a more entertaining speil is necessary.

As for increased capacity because of the new voiceover. I don't think that's really the issue. They cut boats to create a need for fastpass. All the voiceover does is decrease the number of necessary employees needed to operate the ride effeciently.
