Living Seas needs DisneySeas update

Just thinking... Disney has an incredible opportunity to clone DisneySeas attractions in and around the Living Seas. Storm Rider can connect it to The Land. Aquatopia would fit nicely too. What other DisneySeas attractions might fit?

Just an afterthought...

How about this radical idea... Use EPCOT's parking lot to build a DisneySeas theme park, or a DisneySeas "mini-land", which the Living Seas would be the entranceway to? Hey, if they could use the Disneyland parking lot to build California Adventure, they could use EPCOT's parking lot to build WDW's DisneySeas Park!

Nemo

Sounds like an idea mate! Another idea might be to make it a 'Finding Nemo' attraction with a roller coaster inside that takes you on the EAC (East Australian Current)! :)

I've always thought "Aquatopia" should replace 20,000 Leagues/Submarine Voyage at the stateside parks. The lagoons look about the right size, the theming could fit, and I assume the costs would be much lower than an attraction built from scratch.

My only question: how deep is Tokyo's "Aquatopia" pool? Probably just a few feet, I'm assuming. My guess is that the Submarine lagoons would be too deep and unsafe for the glorified "bumper boat" attraction.

I dont like these ideas at alllllll......

If they're gonna build a DisneySea park, they're gonna be smart and built it separate from Epcot/Living Seas.

I think a plain Finding Nemo dark ride that is similar to most Fantasyland attractions would fit nicely.. here's an idea...

The main portion of the ride will just tell the story.. Nemo's born. Nemo's captured. Run into sharks. Yada yada yada. Then, they could theme the whole East Austrailan Current part to the clear tube that the old ride used to be in... and then you make a slight turn into another show buliding to finish up the ride that takes you into the main aquarium area..

Why? Why? Why?
Why do people think that EPCOT needs to be like all the other Disney parks???
The Living Seas is fine the way it is now. It just needs to be updated with newer tech. that's all.
Nemo is not needed here!
An E-Ticket ride is not needed here!
The Living Seas is about --- well it's about the Living Seas not Disney/Pixar Cartoons and not rides.

We Have To Face The Facts...

MartyMouse...don't get me wrong...I love The Living Seas as it is...BUT...we do have to face the facts that the general public is demanding more thrill rides! The challenge would be to accomplish what they've done in Test Track and Mission: Space, where the thrill ride is also educational. The reality is...with the success of Nemo in theatres and so far in DVD sales...a fast paced Nemo ride inside The Living Seas that brings you to the aquarium would DEFINITELY bring thousands more back to Epcot and would be a fitting addition to Project Gemini!

I do not think we need a roller coaster in the Living Seas. I mean, for the EAC? That's just a film tie-in. There is no such thing as the "EAC fast current" in real life. That would be fine at MGM. . . but not to throw a ride on Living Seas for the SOLE purpose of thrills.

The idea is cute, don't get me wrong, but I feel it would severely degrade EPCOT even more than it is right now. We do NOT want that much fiction.

Nemo will more than likely be coming to Living Seas. . . it sounds good. I just don't want to see the aura of Seabase Alpha totally gone. Remember, the point is real life. So to complement the attraction? Sure. To TAKE OVER? That could be a potential disaster.

And there are plans in the works for a new ride to be put between the Land and the Living Seas. Apparently, they'll be using Rocket Rods vehicles (info from www.disneyinformer.com).

It may not be called that, but then again Thermohaline Conveyer, isn't that catchy

Warm ocean currents that travel all over the world, almost like an underwater jet stream.

I am a Disney purist. In the last week I purchased and watched Castaway Cowboy and Charlie the Lonesome Cougar on DVD. I love old Disney movies. But that is for another thread. I like Epcot, because it stays true to Walt's vision. But if Walt was alive, I think he would do something to increase their numbers. What if Epcot had not added Test Track and Misson Space in the last couple of years, can you imagine the attendance. My friends parents just got back from WDW. They said Epcot was empty. I can't tell you how many times I have heard that same report. Epcot, as sad as it is, has to keep up with the times. Kids hate Epcot plain and simple. I know it wasn't made to be a kid's park, but parents pay a lot to take their family to Disney. I am sure they want each park to have something for each member of their family. At least Test Track and Mission Space still stick to educational part of Epcot. They do have their parts where you can learn about testing cars and space. At least it's not Buzz Lightyear's Mission Space or Herby the Love Bug's Test Track. Be thankful for that.

It stays true to his vision? Maybe to his overall vision of what a theme park should be... but definitely not to what his vision of Epcot was... ;)

i think if there's going to be a finding nemo attraction, the 20,000 leagues lagoon is the place to do it. that is a big chunk of prime magic kingdom real-estate that has been just gathering dust (can water actually gather dust?) for what seems like an eternity now...

how about having guests board oversized (i mean big) sea turtles and then embark along the EAC. guests could peer out windows (tho not as tiny this time) just like on the original attraction. using jets of water and air bubbles it would be fairly easly to simulate a fast ride on the EAC - then the turtles could exit the EAC and there would be plenty of opportunity to view scenes and characters from nemo... i'm sure the imagineers could come up with some underwater animatronics that would be light years ahead of the 'fish on string' type from 20,000 leagues... just sitting here for 5 minutes going over this in my head i could think of a ton of ideas for a nemo attraction in the lagoon... just think it would fit so much better there than in 'seabase alpha'....

disney should've taken the money they're putting into the re-theming of alien encounter and used it for something like this... nemo was a much bigger hit than stitch, no?

and why did they 'abandon' the lagoon in the first place? wasn't it a popular attraction? was one i always looked forward to as a kid...

I like the idea of putting Nemo in the Living Seas. My assumption is that it will be supplementary and not over-run the whole pavillion. I think it will be similar to the Lion King show in the Land. A character is introduced, but only to get the main point across of that desired pavilion. The Living Seas is desparate for a change. Add a dark ride, a coaster, anything. Attendence is lacking. I say give the public what they want, a revised attraction (and throw in some thrills too:) )
